摘要: A media identifier registry for managing metadata records. The registry stores a unique logical identifier for each of the records as well as a base type corresponding to each of the logical identifiers. The base types are representative of the information contained in the respective metadata records for the corresponding logical identifiers. The registry further defines associations between the logical identifiers and base types. Improvements in identifying media content and related information according to the invention permit building a media data warehouse capable of aggregating data from many different sources, uniquely identify the same piece of content from different data providers, in different cultures, and in different physical forms to allow a consistent set of data to be stored and retrieved.

摘要: Servicing a request for information from a device with limited network, memory, and display resources includes receiving a request for a page of information from a client device. The requested page is retrieved, and points within the page at which the page may be divided into sub-pages are identified. The points at which the page may be divided may be statically defined within the page or dynamically determined from the structure of the page. The page is separated at the identified points into multiple sub-pages, and it is determined if each of the multiple sub-pages may be used by the client device. A sub-page may be used by the client device if a weight of the sub-page, which may be expressly calculated or estimated, is less than a maximum allowable weight. The multiple sub-pages are linked, and the multiple sub-pages are individually transferred to the client device.

摘要: Providing standardized metadata associated with media content responsive to input metadata. The invention extracts one or more tokens from the input metadata. Each of the extracted tokens represents a portion of the input metadata. The invention creates a token group comprising a plurality of selected tokens. The invention searches the database of standardized metadata using a multi-pass approach using the token group and the extracted tokens to identify the standardized metadata associated with the input metadata.

摘要: A multi-marker microwave sweep linearization system comprising a voltage controlled microwave oscillator utilizing an adaptive sweep control circuit is presented. The oscillator control voltage is to be adjusted as necessary to maintain a constant spacing between markers. To produce the markers, the output of the oscillator is mixed with the output at a comb generator having harmonics. The lower side bands generated as the oscillator sweeps past the comb frequencies generates a series of `chirps`, centered about each of the comb harmonics. It will be noted, that the frequency of the chirp passes through zero when the oscillator frequency is exactly equal to one of the comb harmonics. The marker is to be associated with a higher frequency in the chirp envelope to avoid phase uncertainties. This can be accomplished with a frequency-detector circuit which may comprise a retriggerable monostable multi-vibrator having a time constant equal to the period of the frequency to be detected. The multi-vibrator is preceded by a high speed comparator which squares up the chirp signal. At the onset of the chirp, the signal amplitude is too low to be detected by the comparer. The comparer threshold is set with hysteresis to allow triggering when the chirp frequency is higher than the desired marker detection frequency. Further, by averaging several sweeps it is possible to get very precise marker position measurements. Any long term change in the oscillator frequency versus voltage characteristics which degrades sweep linearity will be manifested as a shift in the position of one of the markers, and the sweep voltage can be readily adjusted to compensate for it.

摘要: A method for identifying the contents of a compact disc manipulating a received table of contents (TOC) identifier associated with the compact disc. The method parses portions of the TOC comprising a series of numbers corresponding to track offsets for each track of the compact disc. The method further determines the first number from the series of numbers, subtracts the first number from each number in the series of numbers to form an altered series of numbers, and concatenates the altered series of numbers to form an altered string that comprises the altered TOC identifier. The altered TOC identifier may then be compared to a plurality of canonical TOC identifiers to identify the contents of the compact disc. Another method generates a generic TOC identifier for a plurality of compact discs known to contain the same data.

摘要: Techniques and tools are described for creating and using application identifiers that act as “fingerprints” for applications. In one aspect, an identifier generation algorithm is applied to application data and an application identifier is generated. The application data comprises graphical icon data, and can further comprise other data (e.g., executable name, registry data). The identifier generation algorithm can be a hashing algorithm that generates a hash value. The application identifier can be sent in a database query, and a database can return results indicating, for example, whether metadata can be obtained from a metadata service, or whether the software application is of a particular type (e.g., a gaming-related application). Application identifiers can be stored, for example, in a data file along with one or more other application identifiers for other software applications. Described techniques and tools can be used in a graphical user interface-based gaming activity center.
