摘要: The subject invention provides materials and methods for treating diseases affecting the central nervous system (CNS) and/or other viral reservoir organs utilizing nanoscopic diamond particles, i.e., nanodiamonds (ND), loaded with therapeutic agents of interests. In one aspect, the subject invention provides a composition for treating a subject's brain and/or other organs acting as viral reservoirs, the composition comprising a plurality of ND particles measuring less than 10 nm in size, wherein the ND particles are loaded with at least one therapeutic agent of interest. In another aspect, the subject invention provides methods of treating disorders affecting the CNS such as, for example, the brain and other viral reservoir organs such as, for example, lymph nodes and gut-associated lymphoid tissues (GALT), utilizing the drug delivery system comprising a plurality of ND particles as provided herein.

摘要: The subject invention provides systems and methods for capturing carbon dioxide in a cyclic process of mechano-chemical reactions. The subject invention also provides systems and methods for synthesizing siderite, by means of mechano-chemical reactions, using mill rotation. Siderite acts as an efficient reversible sorbent and can be decomposed, generating magnetite, carbon and/or metallic iron as well as pure carbon dioxide. Said systems and methods employing carbon dioxide capture/release reactions in the carbonation-calcination cycles are suitable for using in any iron, steel and non-steel industries to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.

摘要: This disclosure relates to phosphate coatings that inhibit corrosion of metals, specifically coatings comprising acidic phosphate and alkaline metal oxide/hydroxide components. In one particular embodiment, phosphate-based coating formulations that reduce or eliminate corrosion of steel and other metals are disclosed. In other embodiments, methods for coating steel surfaces with acidic phosphate and alkaline metal oxide/hydroxide components to reduce or eliminate corrosion of the metal surfaces are disclosed.

摘要: Single-step, inexpensive, scalable, and eco-friendly methods and systems for exfoliation and deposition of 2D reduced phosphorene nanosheets are provided, as well as deposited phosphorene nanosheets with high specific capacitance. The exfoliation and deposition can be in situ and can include exfoliation from bulk black phosphorus (BP) into a solvent and deposition onto a negative feeding electrode. The positive feeding electrode can be a noble metal, such as a platinum wire.
