A method of preparing a highly homogenous spinel Li1+XMn2−XO4+Y intercalation compound having a predetermined mean particle size and particle size distribution for 4 V secondary lithium and lithium ion cells is provided. The method comprises mixing at least one manganese compound having a predetermined particle size distribution with at least one lithium compound wherein the manganese compound has a mean particle size of between about 1 and 15 microns and the mean particle size of the lithium compound is less than that of the manganese compound The mixture is then fired in one or more firing steps within specific temperature ranges to form the Li1+XMn2−XO4+Y intercalation compound. Preferably, at least one firing step is at a temperature of between about 700° C. and 900° C. The Li1+XMn2−XO4+Y intercalation compounds may be used in the positive electrodes of secondary lithium and lithium ion cells to provide cells having high specific capacity, cycleability, and charge-discharge rate capability.

A diamond wire saw exhibits a disc fitted with a groove. The diamond wire is wound around a supply reel activated by a first motor placed close to the centre of the disc. The diamond wire then passes over a pulley, then into the groove of the disc. The diamond wire moves away from the disc in a loop passing through two pulleys between which is placed the part to be sawn. The diamond wire then passes through a tension pulley, then returns to a pulley placed on the disc, and from there to the groove, then to a take-up reel placed close to the centre of the disc, symmetrically to the supply reel. The disc oscillates, communicating a to and fro motion to the wire. At each oscillation, a motor placed on the disc and controlled by approach switches depending on the angular position of the disc, makes the supply reel turn at a certain angle, freeing a certain length of wire. Likewise, the take-up reel turns at a certain angle and winds a certain length of used wire each time that the tension pulley reaches a determined position. The wire is thereby continually replaced during sawing.

Between the chassis frame of the vehicle and the platform there is arranged an intermediate frame which is operatively connected, with the chassis frame, by means of three support devices arranged in spaced relationship from one another. The intermediate frame, together with the platform carrying the weapon system, viewed in the direction of travel of the vehicle, can be lowered and/or raised in relation to the chassis frame at least at one side. The individual support devices of the three point-support arrangement are structured for handling angular and displacement movements.

An apparatus and a process are disclosed making it possible to mount, without disadvantages, relatively hard particles, such as diamond dust and the like, on wire-like base material in such a way that the diamond dust is not damaged, wherein any desired coating, that is, especially also a coating coherent over the length of the wire, can be produced. This coating is at least macroscopically homogeneous in character. In such a process for the application of relatively hard particles to a circular wire-like form or a wire-like form without longitudinal edges, for the purpose of producing a plain or multiple saw, the form is coated under pressure with the aid of a surface of two rolls. This surface is at least partially provided with the particles to be applied. The wire-like form is turned about its longitudinal axis during this process. The form must be present in the straight, that is stretched, condition.The process can be performed with an apparatus exhibiting two hardened and ground rolls movable relatively to each other. These rolls serve for the accommodation of hard particles and the form to be coated, and for rolling the form between the two outer surfaces of the rolls. The to and fro movement for rolling the form takes place mechanically.
