Provided is a polarizing plate with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer which is excellent in reliability of optical properties and durability of pressure-sensitive adhesion. The polarizing plate with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer comprises a polarizing film and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided directly on at least one surface of the polarizing film. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer comprises a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition containing a pressure-sensitive adhesive polymer, and an amount of an acid component in a total monomer component constituting the pressure-sensitive adhesive polymer is less than 8 wt %.

A liquid crystal display panel includes a liquid crystal cell, a first polarizing plate placed on one side of the liquid crystal cell, a second polarizing plate placed on the other side of the liquid crystal cell, a retardation film placed between the liquid crystal cell and the first polarizing plate, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer placed between the liquid crystal cell and the retardation film, wherein the first and second polarizing plates have absorption axes whose directions are substantially orthogonal to each other, the retardation film is a norbornene resin-containing stretched film and has a refractive index ellipsoid satisfying the relation nx≧nz>ny, and the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer includes a pressure-sensitive adhesive that may be produced by crosslinking a composition including a (meth)acrylate (co)polymer and a crosslinking agent including a peroxide as a main component. When the liquid crystal display panel is viewed from oblique directions, leakage of light and changes in color are small, and when the liquid crystal cell is recycled, the laminated film has a high level of easy peelability.

A pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film of the present invention comprises: an optical film comprising a transparent base film and an optical compensation liquid crystal layer provided on one side of the transparent base film; a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided on the optical compensation liquid crystal layer; and an undercoat layer that is interposed between the optical compensation liquid crystal layer and the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and contains a polymer and an antioxidant. The pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film can suppress window frame unevenness when a backlight is turned on.

A pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film of the invention comprises an optical film and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided on the optical film, wherein the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has a thickness (μm) standard deviation of 0.12 μm or less. The pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film makes it possible to reduce the problem of visible unevenness caused by a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer.

A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition for an optical film of the present invention comprises a (meth)acryl-based polymer (A): and a polyether compound (B) having a polyether skeleton and a reactive silyl group represented by formula (1): —SiRaM3-a at at least one terminal, wherein R represents a monovalent organic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms and optionally having a substituent; M represents a hydroxyl group or a hydrolyzable group; and represents an integer of 1 to 3, provided that in cases where two or more R groups, R groups is the same or different, and in cases where two or more M groups, M groups is the same or different. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition for an optical film is capable of forming a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer having reworkability that enables an optical film to be easily peeled off from a liquid crystal panel or the like with no adhesive residue and satisfactory durability that prevents a bonded optical film from peeling or lifting.

A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition for an optical film of the present invention includes a (meth)acrylic polymer(A) that comprises, as monomer units, 67 to 96.99% by weight of alkyl (meth)acrylate(a1), 1 to 20% by weight of benzyl (meth)acrylate(a2), 2 to 10% by weight of a carboxyl group-containing monomer(a3) and 0.01 to 3% by weight of a hydroxyl group-containing monomer(a4), has a weight average molecular weight(Mw) of 1,600,000 or more, and satisfy a weight average molecular weight(Mw)/number average molecular weight(Mn) ratio of 1.8 to 10. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition can satisfy durability that does not cause peeling, separation at the state in which the optical film was attached, and can form a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer capable of improving display non-uniformity caused by a white display leakage at a peripheral portion.

There is provided an optical film pressure-sensitive adhesive composition capable of forming a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that has reworkability such that optical films therewith can be easily separated from liquid crystal panels with no adhesive residue and also has satisfactory processability such that it can be processed without causing adhesive stain or dropout after it is formed on an optical film. The optical film pressure-sensitive adhesive composition includes 100 parts by weight of a (meth)acrylic polymer including, as monomer units, (a) 50 to 99.79% by weight of an alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer, (b) 0.01 to 0.45% by weight of a tertiary amino group-containing monomer, and (c) 0.1 to 3% by weight of a hydroxyl group-containing monomer; and 0.01 to 2 parts by weight of a crosslinking agent that is at least one selected from the group consisting of hexamethylene diisocyanate, hydrogenated xylylene diisocyanate, and isophorone diisocyanate, or a polyisocyanate compound derived therefrom.
