Abstract:
A fuel composition and method for reducing friction or wear and improving fuel economy in an engine. The fuel composition includes gasoline and from about 10 to about 750 ppm by weight based on a total weight of the fuel composition of a hydroxyalkyl hydrocarbyl-substituted succinimide compound having at least two hydroxyl groups attached to a tertiary nitrogen atom of a polyamino group through a hydrocarbyl link, wherein the hydroxyalkyl hydrocarbyl-substituted succinimide is devoid of primary and secondary amino groups.
Abstract:
A fuel additive and method for improving fuel economy in an engine. The method includes providing a fuel composition to an engine, wherein the fuel composition includes gasoline and from about 10 to about 750 ppm by weight based on a total weight of the fuel composition of a fuel stable additive of the formula wherein R1 comprises a saturated hydrocarbyl group having from 6 to 30 carbon atoms, R2 is an alkyl, polyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or polyalkoxyalkyl group containing from 2 to 25 carbon atoms, R3 is an alkyl group containing from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, R4 is a linear alkyl group containing 2 to 3 carbon atoms, and x is an integer selected from 0 and 1, and combusting the fuel composition in the engine.
Abstract:
A fuel composition, a lubricant composition, and methods for reducing friction or wear of moving parts. The fuel composition includes gasoline and from about 10 to about 500 ppm by weight of a dialkylaminoalkanol of the formula R1(R2)NCH2CH(R3)R4. The lubricant composition includes base oil of lubricating viscosity and from about 0.05 to about 5.0 weight percent of a dialkylaminoalkanol of the formula R1(R2)NCH2CH(R3)R4. In the above formulas wherein R1 is an alkyl group or a hydroxyalkyl group containing from 8 to 50 carbon atoms; R2 is an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R3 is selected from H and OH; and R4 is selected from H, an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and CH2OH and wherein at least one of R3 and R4 contains a hydroxyl group and provided that when R1 is a hydroxyalkyl group, R3 is OH and R4 is CH2OH.
Abstract:
A fuel additive for a gasoline fuel composition, a gasoline fuel composition and a method for reducing wear in a gasoline delivery system of an engine. The fuel additive includes a synergistic mixture of (i) N,N-bis(hydroxyalkyl)-alkylamine, and (ii) an amide reaction product of a hydroxy acid, hydroxy ester, or lactone and an amine or ether amine, wherein a weight ratio of (i) to (ii) in the synergistic mixture ranges from about 1:5 to about 5:1.
