摘要: The disclosed technology provides lubricating compositions comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity, an alkaline earth metal sulfonate detergent having a metal ratio of at least 10, in an amount to contribute 3 to 14 g KOH/kg of TBN to the lubricating composition, an ashless, sulfur free, hydrocarbyl phenolic compound in an amount of 0.4 to about 6.0 weight percent (wt %) of the composition, and an ashless dispersant; wherein the lubricating composition has total ash of 0.3 to 1.8 wt %, total detergent soap of 0.1 to 1.2 wt % and wherein the lubricating composition contains less than 0.1 wt % of a sulfur-containing phenolic detergent. The disclosed technology further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device (such as an internal combustion engine) with the lubricating composition. The disclosed technology further relates to the use of the of the lubricating composition in a heavy duty diesel internal combustion engine to improve control of at least one of the following (i) fuel economy, (ii) corrosion, (iii) cleanliness, and (iv) bore wear.

摘要: This disclosure relates to cold cranking simulator viscosity (“CCSV”) boosting base stocks that allow flexibility for engine oil formulations to meet both high and low temperature viscosity requirements while maximizing fuel efficiency. The CCSV-boosting base stocks can include C28-C60 hydrocarbon materials, linear esters, tertiary amides, dialkyl carbonates, aromatic alcohols, and aromatic ethers. This disclosure also relates to lubricating oil formulations containing the CCSV-boosting base stocks, and a method for improving fuel efficiency in an engine by using as the engine oil a lubricating oil formulation containing one or more of the CCSV-boosting base stocks and/or cobase stocks.

摘要: A low transition temperature mixture (LTTM) or deep eutectic solvent (DES) useful as a lubricating oil base stock and lubricating oil including a eutectic mixture of at least a first component and at least a second component. The at least first component comprises a hydrogen bond acceptor and the at least second component comprises a hydrogen bond donor. The eutectic mixture includes an equilibrium phase between the at least first component and the at least second component. The equilibrium phase does not exhibit physical characteristics of the at least first component in an unmixed state and the at least second component in an unmixed state. The at least first component and the at least second component form an intermolecular interaction between each other sufficient to prevent crystallization of the at least first component and the at least second component in the eutectic mixture. The eutectic mixture is a liquid at 20° C.

The alkoxylated amide and ester have general formulas (I) and (II), respectively. The lubricant composition may be further defined as a racing oil composition.Also disclosed is a method for maximizing the effectiveness of a friction modifier in a racing oil composition thus increasing the fuel economy of a racing vehicle. The method includes providing the racing oil composition and lubricating an internal combustion engine of a racing vehicle to increase the fuel economy of the racing vehicle.

摘要: A fuel composition, a lubricant composition, and methods for reducing friction or wear of moving parts. The fuel composition includes gasoline and from about 10 to about 500 ppm by weight of a dialkylaminoalkanol of the formula R1(R2)NCH2CH(R3)R4. The lubricant composition includes base oil of lubricating viscosity and from about 0.05 to about 5.0 weight percent of a dialkylaminoalkanol of the formula R1(R2)NCH2CH(R3)R4. In the above formulas wherein R1 is an alkyl group or a hydroxy alkyl group containing from 8 to 50 carbon atoms; R2 is an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R3 is selected from H and OH; and R4 is selected from H, an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and CH2OH and wherein at least one of R3 and R4 contains a hydroxyl group and provided that when R1 is a hydroxyalkyl group, R3 is OH and R4 is CH2OH.

摘要: An engine oil composition includes a star polymer (A) and a poly(alkyl (meth)acrylate) (B) as a viscosity index improver, and has a viscosity index of 185 to 230, the star polymer (A) having a star structure and having a weight average molecular weight of 100,000 to 1,000,000, the star structure being a structure in which polymer chains branch from a center of the polymer, the polymer chains being obtained by copolymerization and hydrogenation of an aromatic vinyl compound monomer and a conjugated diene monomer, the poly(alkyl (meth)acrylate) (B) having a weight average molecular weight of 200,000 to 600,000, the content (MA) of the star polymer (A) in the engine oil composition being 0.10 to 2.00 mass % based on the total mass of the engine oil composition, the content (MB) of the poly(alkyl (meth)acrylate) (B) in the engine oil composition being 0.50 to 6.00 mass % based on the total mass of the engine oil composition, and the ratio “MA/MB” being 0.10 to 1.00. The engine oil composition can significantly improve fuel efficiency, and is suitably used for a diesel engine.

A lubricating oil composition as described herein includes a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, an amine-functionalized olefin copolymer dispersant viscosity index improver in an amount of from about 1.5 wt. % to 2.0 wt. % based on the weight of the lubricating oil composition, and a dispersant. The amine-functionalized olefin copolymer dispersant viscosity index improver includes a reaction product of an acylated olefin copolymer and a polyamine. The dispersant includes reaction product of components (A) a hydrocarbyl-dicarboxylic acid or anhydride having a number average molecular weight of from about 500 to about 5000 and (B) at least one polyamine, wherein the reaction product is post-treated with (C) an aromatic carboxylic acid, an aromatic polycarboxylic acid, or an aromatic anhydride, wherein all carboxylic acid or anhydride groups are attached directly to an aromatic ring, and/or (D) a non-aromatic dicarboxylic acid or anhydride having a number average molecular weight of less than about 500.

摘要: The objective is to provide lubrication oil and internal-combustion engine fuel for reducing the fuel consumption and for reducing carbon dioxide and other exhaust gas components. The lubrication oil is injected with lubrication oil impregnating agent composed of dimethylalkyl tertiary amine in the range from 0.01 to 1 volume % and desirably in the range from 0.1 to 0.5 volume %. Petroleum oil fuel is injected with fuel oil impregnating agent composed of dimethylalkyl tertiary amine in the range from 0.5 to 1 volume %. The petroleum oil fuel is light oil, kerosene, gasoline, or Bunker A. Any one or both of these lubrication oil and petroleum oil fuel is/are used for an internal-combustion engine.
