Abstract: Methods and systems are described for proximity condition detection of a recovery from sensor proximity saturation caused by water immersion of a user device. The device transmits data at a first transmit power level using an antenna. In one system, a proximity condition checker determines that a first proximity sensor and a second proximity sensor are saturated in an unknown state after a power event where the saturation caused at least in part by the presence of water in proximity to the first proximity sensor and the second proximity sensor. The proximity condition checker determines that 1) both the first proximity sensor and the second proximity sensor are no longer saturated and 2) water is no longer in proximity to the first proximity sensor and the second proximity sensor. In response, the user device can transmit data at an increased second transmit power level using the antenna.

Abstract: Devices and apparatuses are described. An apparatus may include radio frequency (RF) circuitry including a RF feed and a modem to transmit one or more signals via the RF feed. The apparatus may include an antenna structure including a first element and a second element. The apparatus may include an application processor coupled to the first element and the second element, where the application processor includes proximity sensing circuitry. The proximity sensing circuitry can measure a first capacitance value and a second capacitance value and the application processor can transmit a first signal of the one or more signals via the first element. The modem can determine whether an object is proximate to the first element and select the second element when the object is determined to be proximate to the second element.

Abstract: A device is described. The device includes a data interface connector, an application processor, and interface circuitry. The application processor can receive signals via an antenna. The interface circuitry can be coupled between the application processor and the data interface connector. The data interface circuitry can determine a change in a signal property of one of the signals, the change being caused by an impedance mismatch between the data interface connector and a media consumption device. The data interface circuitry can also send the application processor a signal property setting corresponding with the change. The application processor can adjust the signal property of a subsequent one of the signals, in response to the signal property setting from the interface circuitry, to obtain an adjusted signal. The application processor can also send the adjusted signal to the media consumption device.

Abstract: The techniques described herein mitigate the effects of electromagnetic interference, caused by the sending or receiving of data, on a proximity sensor of an electronic device. In some instances, capacitance values measured by the proximity sensor may be inaccurate during times at which the electronic device is sending or receiving data. To mitigate this effect, the techniques take into account the recurrent time slot(s) at which the electronic device is scheduled to send or receive data, and then disregards the capacitance values measured by the proximity sensor at these times.

Abstract: Systems and methods for addressing an inadvertent decrease in transmission energy/power due to triggering a proximity sensor by a cover disposed on a computing device. In an embodiment, a cover sensor may be incorporated into the device. The cover sensor may be used to detect the presence of a cover on the device, as well as whether the cover is in an open or closed position. The output of the cover sensor may then be used to adjust a trigger/proximity threshold of the proximity sensor to account for the presence and position of the cover on the device. In this manner the device may avoid unnecessary power backoff caused by proximity of the cover, rather than proximity of the user. This improves the over the air (OTA) performance of the device, as well as the user experience.

The device is configured to make periodic assessments of battery capacity by measuring the DC resistance value of the battery cell during the execution of a power-consuming operation. If the measured DC resistance value reaches a threshold level, the device can initiate a power-saving mode in which an operating parameter of the device is adjusted to decrease power consumption.

Abstract: A mobile communication device may use sensor data to identify the current device state based on sensor data, device parameter values and/or device usage data. The mobile communication device may then measure the impedance value of a characteristic circuit, such as the antenna or the power amplifier. Responsive to determining that the measured impedance value differs from a pre-defined base impedance value by more than a certain threshold value, the mobile communication device may retrieve, from a memory, a set of envelope tracking (ET) parameter values corresponding to the current state of the communication device and the measured impedance value. The mobile communication device may calculate, using the retrieved ET parameter values, a target supply voltage to be applied to the power amplifier.

Abstract: A processing device tracks a frequency hopping sequence implemented by a personal area network (PAN) transmitter in a user device and identifies a set of filter coefficients corresponding to a first frequency of a plurality of frequencies in the frequency hopping sequence, wherein the PAN transmitter is currently transmitting a PAN signal at the first frequency. The processing device configures a tunable notch filter with the set of filter coefficients to cause the filter to remove at least a portion of a PAN component at the current frequency from a combined signal received at a wireless local area network (WLAN) receiver in the user device, the combined signal comprising a WLAN component attributable to a received WLAN signal and the PAN component attributable to the PAN signal.
