Abstract: An impregnated fibrous material comprising a fibrous material made of continuous fiber and at least one thermoplastic polymer matrix, wherein the at least one thermoplastic polymer is an non-reactive amorphous polymer, the glass transition temperature of which is such that Tg≥80° C., or a non-reactive semi-crystalline polymer, the melting temperature of which is Tf≥150° C., the fiber volume ratio is constant in at least 70% of the volume of the tape or ribbon, the fiber ratio in the pre-impregnated fibrous material ranging from 45 to 65% by volume, the porosity rate in the pre-impregnated fibrous material being less than 10%.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a preimpregnated fibrous material containing a fibrous material made of continuous fibers and at least one thermoplastic polymer matrix, wherein the preimpregnated fibrous material is produced as a single unidirectional tape or of a plurality of parallel unidirectional tapes and wherein the process includes a step of impregnating, in particular fully and homogeneously, the fibrous material that is in the form of a roving or of several parallel rovings with the at least one thermoplastic polymer matrix that is in powder form, the impregnating step being carried out by a dry route in a tank and the control of the amount of the at least one thermoplastic polymer matrix in said fibrous material being achieved by control of the residence time of said fibrous material in the powder, with the exclusion of any electrostatic process with intentional charging.

Abstract: A method of producing a pre-impregnated fibrous material including a fibrous material of continuous fibres and a thermoplastic polymer matrix, wherein the pre-impregnated fibrous material is produced in a single unidirectional strip or in a plurality of parallel unidirectional strips, the method including the following steps: (i) impregnating the fibrous material in the form of a strand or a plurality of parallel strands with the thermoplastic polymer in the form of a powder in a fluid bed; and (ii) shaping the strand or parallel strands of the fibrous material impregnated as in step (i) by calendering by at least one heating calender in the form of a single unidirectional strip or of a plurality of parallel unidirectional strips, the heating calender, in the latter case, including a plurality of calendering grooves, and the pressure and/or a spacing between the rollers of the calender being regulated by an auxiliary system.

Abstract: A copolymer having amphiphilic blocks includes at least one first hydrophilic block, obtainable from n-butyl acrylate and hydroxyethyl methacrylate monomers, and a second hydrophobic block likely to be obtained from a methyl methacrylate monomer. The copolymer is found to be particularly advantageous for use as an additive for manufacturing a polymer filtration membrane, particularly a PVDF membrane, particularly via a phase inversion method.
