Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining data that is captured by a device, obtaining metadata corresponding to the data where the metadata describes a context of the capturing of the data, analyzing the metadata to identify a segment context of a segment of the data without performing an image recognition for the segment of the data, and, responsive to a determination that the context does not satisfy a context criterion, generating a low bandwidth version of the segment and transmitting the low bandwidth version of the segment of the data, wherein the low bandwidth version is transmitted at a second bandwidth that is lower than the first bandwidth. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method including determining a degradation of satellite reception in a first geographic area, receiving a weather report for the first geographic area to determine a weather condition, determining a movement of the weather condition to a second geographic area, determining an impairment vector based on the movement to the second geographic area to determine if equipment of customers of a satellite content provider will have an impaired reception of media content, initiating a streaming of media content to the equipment of the customers in the second geographic area according to the impairment vector, and disabling the streaming of the media content to the equipment of the customers in the second geographic area responsive to determining that the second geographic area is no longer impaired by the weather condition. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A method and system for managing performance of over a multimedia content distribution network (MCDN), such as a digital subscriber line network, involves receiving an indication of an impairment in network performance from an MCDN client. The MCDN node associated with the client may be identified and a community of MCDN clients coupled to the MCDN node may be further identified Impairment information, representative of MCDN equipment, may be collected for each of the MCDN clients. Detailed network diagnostics and field service may be performed for MCDN clients based on a characterization of the impairment parameters. After remediation of the MCDN node, collection of the impairment information may be terminated.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, predicting opportunities for a mobile communication device to access a network via available pathways during a first time period according to a history of network connectivity of the mobile communication device, selecting a first pathway of the available pathways according to the opportunities that are predicted for the mobile communication device to access the network via the available pathways during the first time period, and directing transmission of first data to the mobile communication device via the first pathway during the first time period, wherein a presence of a second data at the mobile communication device enables an application to access the first data at the mobile communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A method in a server for providing various Internet Protocol television signal qualities involves an IPTV signal having a first signal quality that is transmitted over a first network connection to a first device. A request to receive the IPTV signal over a second network connection at a second device with the IPTV signal having a second signal quality is received. A determination is made that the second network connection has sufficient bandwidth to transmit the IPTV signal at the second signal quality, and that the second device is capable of receiving IPTV signal. The transmission of the IPTV signal over the first network connection to the first device is ended. An endpoint for the transmission of the IPTV signal to the first device is determined. The IPTV signal is transmitted over the second network connection to the second device at the second signal quality beginning at the determined endpoint.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for determining a mitigation strategy to limit a potential source of interference on an Internet Protocol television (IPTV) system. A new user installation request is received at a server in the IPTV system. A first geographical location of a customer premises associated with the new user installation request is received. A second geographical location of an amplitude modulation broadcasting facility is received. A first distance between the first geographical location and the second geographical location is determined. A first signal transmission power rating for the amplitude modulation broadcasting facility is retrieved from a database. A first mitigation strategy causing filters to filter an IPTV signal according to a frequency range associated with the amplitude modulation broadcasting facility to limit a first interference on the IPTV signal provided to the first geographical location when the first distance is less than the first threshold distance is determined.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, participating in a communication session over a network with a second communication device that is remote from the communication device where the communication session includes a computer supported collaborative work environment utilizing a non-baton passing protocol, presenting content at a display device where the content is presented by the second communication device at a second display device, receiving first user input at the user interface where second user input is received by the second communication device where a conflict resolution is applied to events associated with the first and second user input, and presenting adjusted content at the display device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, presenting content at a display device where the content is also presented by a group of other communication devices, receiving adjustment data from a second communication device where the adjustment data is representative of an adjustment of the content according to user input received at the second communication device adjusting the content according to the adjustment data to generate adjusted content, presenting the adjusted content at the display device, and providing feedback information over the network indicating that the adjusted content has been presented by the communication device at the display device, where the providing of the feedback information enables the second communication device to present a feedback indicia at a second display device of the group of other display devices, and where the feedback indicia indicates that the communication device has presented the adjusted content at the display device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A device is disclosed for determining a first geographical location of a customer premise, a second geographical location of a radio frequency transmitter and a third geographical location of network access equipment proximal to the customer premises, wherein the network access equipment provides access to media signals by way of a broadband communications link. The first, second and third geographical locations are mapped, and a distance between the second geographical location and one of the first geographical location or the third geographical location is determined. The distance is compared to a threshold distance based on a signal transmission power of the radio frequency transmitter, and a mitigation strategy is determined to limit interference of the radio frequency transmitter on the media signals provided to the first geographical location when the distance is less than the threshold distance.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining, by a system comprising a processor, a driver profile according to a driver identity for a driver of a vehicle, selecting a driver-specific enforcement scenario for the vehicle according to the driver profile and traffic enforcement information that is associated with a vehicle location, and presenting an in-vehicle alert to convey the driver-specific enforcement scenario to the driver. Other embodiments are disclosed.
