    Abstract: A negative pressure assembly includes a drape, a sealing element, a reactor, and a mechanical pump assembly. The drape covers a dressing site on a patient and seals against the skin upon application of a vacuum while maintaining a negative pressure underneath the drape. When applied to the skin, the sealing element cooperates with the drape to define an enclosed volume covered by the drape and surrounded by the sealing element. The reactor is located with respect to the drape and the sealing element to be in fluid communication with the enclosed volume when the drape is covering the dressing site and is configured to react with and consume a selected gas found in air. The mechanical pump assembly is connectable to the enclosed volume and has a pump chamber in fluid communication with the enclosed volume to draw air from the enclosed volume into the pump chamber.

    Abstract: A reduced pressure device includes a dressing and a reactor. The dressing covers a dressing site and defines an enclosed volume beneath the dressing and around the dressing site. The reactor is disposed with respect to the dressing so as to produce a reduced pressure beneath the dressing when activated. The reactor includes a reducing agent and an electrolyte solution. The electrolyte solution is configured to be selectively delivered to the reducing agent, and the reactor begins to react with at least one selected gas in the enclosed volume after the electrolyte solution is delivered to the reducing agent to consume the at least one selected gas within the enclosed volume.

    Abstract: A negative pressure tissue treatment system useful for negative pressure therapy includes a drape, a gasket material, a reactor housing, a reactor, and any fluid connection(s). The drape covers the skin of a patient and maintains negative pressure under the drape. The gasket material cooperates with the drape to define an enclosed volume that is sealed by the gasket material. The reactor housing defines a closed chamber in fluid communication with the enclosed volume, and the re- actor is disposed in the reactor housing. The reactor consumes oxygen from a system volume defined by the enclosed volume, closed chamber, and/or any fluid connection(s). As a result of the oxygen consumption, the system volume is reduced to between about 95% to about 80% of the initial system volume.

    Abstract: A dressing includes a drape, a pressure-sensitive acrylic-based adhesive on a skin-facing surface of the drape, an island of absorbent material, a silicone gel backing film, and a silicone gel on the silicone gel backing film. The drape is a thin film capable of maintaining a negative pressure underneath the drape upon application of a vacuum. The island of absorbent material has a smaller area than the drape and is applied onto the skin-facing surface of the drape. The silicone gel backing film has a frame shape and a smaller footprint than the drape and a larger footprint than the island of absorbent material.
