摘要: A method is provided for use in a mobile communication terminal configured to support a plurality of applications, wherein each application is executed by performing one or more tasks. The method includes, in response to a scheduling request from an application, obtaining an indication of power supply condition at a requested run-time of at least one of the tasks. The method further includes obtaining a prediction of a rate of energy usage by the task at the requested run-time, and making a scheduling decision for the task. The scheduling decision comprises making a selection from a group of two or more alternative dispositions for the task. The selection is made according to a criterion that relates the run-tune power-supply condition to the predicted rate of energy usage by the task.

摘要: The present invention relates to a communication system and method for transmitting sync flags and pilot symbols during sync symbol periods. Example embodiments provide a method for sharing sync symbols to communicate flag sequences and pilot sequences during a sequence of sync symbol periods. The method includes modulating the pilot sequence by multiplying a pilot code by each value of the pilot sequence, and modulating the flag sequence by multiplying a flag code by each value of the flag sequence. The pilot and flag codes are mutually orthogonal to each other and each includes at least two non-zero values. The method further includes generating a resulting sync symbol sequence based on the modulated pilot sequence and modulated flag sequence, and sending the resulting sync symbol sequence during the sync symbol period.

摘要: An access node is configured to control crosstalk between an activating channel associated with a first terminal and active channels associated with respective other terminals. The access node detects a control signal sent by the first terminal over the activating channel in a designated phase of an initialization process of the first terminal, determines an error signal from the detected control signal, correlates the error signal with one or more corresponding signals sent by respective ones of the other terminals over the active channels, estimates crosstalk from the active channels into the activating channel based on the correlation, and configures a vectoring signal processing module to control the estimated crosstalk. The control signal sent by the first terminal comprises a value selected by the first terminal from a set of two or more values and prior to its detection the particular selected value is unknown to the access node.

摘要: Data words are converted to codewords in accordance with a run-length limited (RLL) or maximum transition run (MTR) code in which the codewords are subject to one or more constraints on the number of consecutive like symbols. The data words and codewords are each partitioned into a number of disjoint subsets. Associated with each of the disjoint subsets of data words is a distinct mapping. A given data word is converted to a codeword by applying to the given data word the mapping associated with the subset containing that data word. The mappings are configured to utilize symmetry whenever possible. For example, if Y=&psgr;(X) represents the mapping of a given data word X onto a corresponding codeword Y. then it is preferred that X′ and Y′ representing the words X and Y in reversed order, satisfy the relation Y′=&psgr;(X′). An example of an efficient high-rate, multi-purpose code in accordance with the invention is a rate 16/17 code satisfying (0,15,9,9) RLL and (0,3,2,2) MTR constraints. This exemplary code can be further processed using interleaving techniques to generate other higher rate codes.

摘要: A dual transmission network may use a hybrid architecture where two types of links, such as wireless and fixed, function in a parallel manner for communicating control information and data. In at least one example embodiment, an apparatus includes at least two local transceivers and a controller. The controller is connected to control the two local transceivers and configured to establish parallel first and second communication links with a remote terminal via at least one of the local transceivers. The first communication link uses a first physical layer communication protocol and the second communication link uses a second physical layer communication protocol. The second physical layer communication protocol may be different from the first physical layer communication protocol or the first and second transceivers may be configured to operate on different frequencies.
