    摘要: A network management apparatus interconnects a plurality of computers through physical lines having a predetermined line speed to manage a switch apparatus constructing a parallel computer system. The switch apparatus comprises a plurality of physical port units to enable or disable the same through individual power supply ON/OFF control for the physical port units, thereby changing and controlling the line transmission speed according to the enable number. A logical port constructing unit in the network management apparatus bundles the physical lines by a plurality of physical port units in the switch apparatus to construct logical lines. A port control unit changes the number of operations of a plurality of physical port units assigned to the logical port units through the power supply ON/OFF control according to a necessary data transmission speed for the logical port units, thereby dynamically changing the line transmission speed.

    摘要: Disclosed is a ring network in which a plurality of transmitting apparatuses are connected in ring form so as to be capable of transmitting in each of upstream and downstream directions, working and protection channels are assigned to each direction and, when failure occurs in a transmission path, a transmit signal is looped back using the protection channel to effect rescue. The ring network includes an insert transmitting apparatus that incorporates a packet, which enters from a lower-order side, into a higher-order signal and transmits the signal to a transmission path, and a drop transmitting apparatus that extracts the packet from the higher-order signal and transmits the packet to another lower-order side. Monitoring is performed to determine whether communication between the insert and drop transmitting apparatus has become unrescuable owing to transmission-path failure. When communication has become unrescuable, the insert transmitting apparatus halts the transmission of the packet to the transmission path.

    摘要: A thermal capacitor cools servers when an active cooling system fails. The thermal capacitor includes cold insulation passages, fans, temperature sensors, and a control unit. The cold insulation passages each have a plurality of air flow channels obtained by dividing the air flow path into a plurality of air flow paths with different air flow path cross-sectional areas. The fan is mounted in each air flow path and the fan controls the air flow of each air flow channel. A temperature sensor is mounted in each outlet of the cold insulation passages. When a detected temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature, the control unit controls air flow so that the ratio of air flow by air flow passage with larger air flow path diameter to overall air flow of all air flow channel increases.
