摘要: An object is displaced alternately in opposite directions, using a hydraulic power unit having a rotatable body which includes the shaft of a hydraulic machine having electronically commutated valves. A motor drives the rotatable body. The hydraulic machine drives an actuator to displace the object in use. Energy is transformed from rotational kinetic energy of the rotatable body to elastic strain energy or elastic strain and gravitational potential energy of the object during a pumping phase and rotation of the rotatable body slows, but does not change direction. The potential energy then drives the hydraulic machine to motor and the rotatable shaft speeds up again, storing rotational kinetic energy. The displacement of the hydraulic machine is controlled throughout to match a time varying demand taking into account the varying speed of rotation of the rotatable shaft. The motor provides energy to compensate for losses and the process can repeat cyclically.

摘要: A hydraulic transmission comprising a variable displacement pump and motor, at least one having cylinders having valves which are controllable on each cycle of cylinder working volume to determine the net displacement of working fluid by the cylinder. The transmission has a valve control module which determines a displacement of the pump and the motor by specifying a displacement demand. The pump and/or motor valve control module determine the frequency of intensity peaks in the frequency spectrum of the pattern of cylinders carrying out active and inactive cycles of cylinder working volume using a first procedure and, if these will fall within disallowed frequency bands including the resonant frequency of components with which the transmission is in mechanical communication, the displacement demand, or another input, is periodically modified to suppress generation of those frequencies. The hydraulic transmission is useful for example in a wind turbine generator, or a vehicle.

A connecting circuit switchably connects pump modules to first and second hydraulic circuit portions to allocate capacity as first and second demands for hydraulic fluid vary. In an apparatus which may have two or more connecting circuit outputs, valves may be controlled or working chamber pumping cycles made inactive to facilitate the reallocation of a pump module from one output to another, and a control strategy addresses pump module allocation when the demands for hydraulic fluid exceed available capacity.

摘要: An electronically commutated hydraulic machine is coupled to a drivetrain. Working chambers of the hydraulic machine are connected to low and high pressure manifold through electronically controlled valves. The phase of opening and closing of the valves has a default. In order to avoid cycle failure due to acceleration events, for example due to backlash in the drivetrain, the phase of opening or closing of the electronically controlled valves is temporarily advanced or retarded from the default timing.
