Abstract: Disclosed herein are aqueous coating compositions containing an anionically stabilized polymer, one or more derivatized polyamines, and a volatile base. Coating compositions can farther include one or more additional copolymers, which may or may not be anionically stabilized, and/or additional additives, including pigments, defoamers, pigment dispersing agents, thickeners, surfactants, and combinations thereof. By incorporating a derivatized polyamine, such as an alkoxylated polyamine, the setting time of the coating compositions can be decreased. Also provided are coatings formed from the coating compositions described herein, as well as methods of forming these coatings.

Abstract: Coating compositions and methods for their preparation are described. The coating compositions can include a first copolymer produced by emulsion polymerization and derived from one or more monomers including one or more (meth)acrylates, one or more acid monomers, and optionally styrene. The first copolymer can have a Tg from −50° C. to −23° C. and is present in an amount of 10-50% by weight based on the total polymer content. The coating compositions can also include a second copolymer produced by emulsion polymerization and derived from one or more monomers including one or more (meth)acrylates, one or more acid monomers, and optionally styrene. The second copolymer can have a Tg from −15° C. to 25° C. and is present in an amount of 50-90% by weight based on the total polymer content. Further described herein are dried coatings, methods for coating a substrate, and methods for producing a coating.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to compositions comprising a copolymer derived from a vinyl aromatic monomer, a (meth)acrylate monomer, an acid monomer, and a copolymerizable surfactant and compositions comprising the same. The (meth)acrylate monomer can be selected from a monomer having a theoretical glass transition temperature (Tg) for its corresponding homopolymer of 0° C. or less or a hydrophobic (meth)acrylate monomer. In some embodiments, the copolymer is further derived from an organosilane. The copolymers can have a theoretical glass transition temperature (Tg) from −60° C. to 80° C. and a number average particle size of 250 nm or less. The compositions can be used to prepare compositions such as coatings that have improved water resistance, blush resistance, and/or resistance to hydrostatic pressures. Methods of making the copolymers are also provided.
