Abstract: A process for preparing methanol from a carbon-containing feedstock by producing synthesis gas therefrom in a synthesis gas production unit, converting the synthesis gas to methanol in a methanol synthesis unit and working up the reaction mixture obtained stepwise to isolate the methanol, wherein the carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, dimethyl ether and methane components of value from the streams separated off in the isolation of the methanol are combusted with an oxygenous gas, and the carbon dioxide in the resultant flue gas is separated off in a carbon dioxide recovery unit and recycled to the synthesis gas production unit and/or to the methanol synthesis unit.

Abstract: An apparatus (10) for preparation of acetylene and synthesis gas by partial oxidation of hydrocarbons with oxygen is proposed, comprising a reactor (12). The reactor (12) has a burner block (14) with a firing space for acetylene preparation, a secondary space (18) formed within the burner block (14), and an annular space (20) surrounding the secondary space (18). The burner block (14) has holes (22) for supply of a stream of a mixture of hydrocarbons and oxygen to the firing space and holes (24) for supply of a stream of auxiliary oxygen to the firing space. The holes (24) for supply of a stream of auxiliary oxygen to the firing space are connected to the secondary space (18). The secondary space (18) is connected to the annular space (20).There is a further proposal of a process for preparing acetylene and synthesis gas by partial oxidation of hydrocarbons with oxygen.

Abstract: An apparatus (10) for preparing acetylene and synthesis gas by partial oxidation of hydrocarbons with oxygen is proposed, comprising a mixing unit (12), a mixing section and a mixing diffuser (16). The mixing unit (12) has a feed orifice (18) for supply of a hydrocarbonaceous stream, a feed orifice (20) for supply of an oxygenous stream, a swirl register and a distributor plate (24). The distributor plate (24) is disposed between the mixing section (14) and the feed orifice (18) for supply of a hydrocarbonaceous stream. The distributor plate (24) has orifices (28). The swirl register (22) is disposed between the feed orifice (20) for supply of an oxygenous stream and the mixing section (14). The mixing diffuser (16) is connected to the mixing section (14).There is a further proposal of a process for preparing acetylene and synthesis gas by partial oxidation of hydrocarbons with oxygen.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing butadiene from n-butenes, comprising the steps of: A) providing an input gas stream a comprising n-butenes, B) feeding the input gas stream a comprising n-butenes and a gas containing at least oxygen into at least one oxidative dehydrogenation zone and oxidatively dehydrogenating n-butenes to butadiene, giving a product gas stream b comprising butadiene, unconverted n-butenes, water vapor, oxygen, low-boiling hydrocarbons and high-boiling secondary components, with or without carbon oxides and with or without inert gases; Ca) cooling the product gas stream b by contacting with a cooling medium in at least one cooling zone, the cooling medium being at least partly recycled and having an aqueous phase and an organic phase, Cb) compressing the cooled product gas stream b which may have been depleted of high-boiling secondary components in at least one compression stage, giving at least one aqueous condensate stream c1 and one gas stream c2 comprising butadiene, n-butenes, water vapor, oxygen and low-boiling hydrocarbons, with or without carbon oxides and with or without inert gases; D) removing uncondensable and low-boiling gas constituents comprising oxygen and low-boiling hydrocarbons, with or without carbon oxides and with or without inert gases, as gas stream d2 from the gas stream c2 by absorbing the C4 hydrocarbons comprising butadiene and n-butenes in an absorbent, giving an absorbent stream laden with C4 hydrocarbons and the gas stream d2, and then desorbing the C4 hydrocarbons from the laden absorbent stream, giving a C4 product gas stream d1, E) separating the C4 product stream d1 by extractive distillation with a butadiene-selective solvent into a stream e1 comprising butadiene and the selective solvent and a stream e2 comprising n-butenes; F) distilling the stream e1 comprising butadiene and the selective solvent into a stream f1 consisting essentially of the selective solvent and a stream f2 comprising butadiene, wherein stage Cb) comprises at least two compression stages Cba) and at least two cooling stages Cbb) configured in the form of quench columns, the cooling in the cooling stages being effected by direct contacting with a biphasic cooling medium having an aqueous phase and an organic phase.

The process consists of separately preheating and then mixing a first input stream containing a hydrocarbon and a second input stream containing oxygen, supplying the first input stream and the second input stream via a burner block to a firing space, quenching a cracking gas obtained to produce a process water stream and a product gas stream, cooling the product gas stream in a cooling column by direct heat exchange with cooling water, depleting soot in an electrostatic filter, combining all process water streams and passing through soot channels, subjecting the combined process water stream to a cleaning operation by partial vaporization in a one-stage flash vessel to obtain a cleaned process water stream, and recycling the cleaned process water stream into the process.
