摘要: A device for selectively turning documents includes first and second drive rollers aligned along an axis which is transverse to a process direction along which documents are fed, and first and second follower rollers cooperatively peripherally aligned with the first and second drive rollers, respectively. One of the drive rollers is operated at a substantially constant peripheral velocity by a first drive which is a constant velocity motor while the other drive roller is operated at a variable peripheral velocity by a variable speed drive so that the document is turned. Thus, only a single variable speed drive, such as, for example a stepper motor or servo system, is required. The variable speed drive is driven through a variable velocity profile to control the amount of rotation of the document. Preferably the document is turned approximately 90.degree.. By placing a pair of sensors adjacent the drive rollers, the skew of the document prior to being rotated can be measured and used to determine the velocity profile for controlling the variable speed motor. After the document is rotated, the same two sensors are used to detect the skew, if any, of the trailing edge of the turned document for correction of the velocity profile used to rotate subsequent documents. An additional mechanism can be provided for shifting the connection of the constant velocity and variable speed motors between the first and second drive rollers so that a sheet can be rotated in opposite directions.

摘要: An improved sheet folder for flimsy printed sheets with an automatic fold position correction system. The folder may have an input sheet feeder, a fold chute with a chute entrance, reversible sheet feeding rollers in the fold chute adjacent to the chute entrance, fold rollers, a folded sheets output path, and a sensor system for sensing the length of folded sheets in the folded sheets output path. A sheet to be folded is may be partially fed into the fold chute, engaged by the reversible rollers, and fed thereby further into the chute by a selected distance corresponding to a desired folding position along the sheet. Then, the reversible rollers are stopped at a selected sheet stopping position and reversed to feed the sheet into the fold rollers, cooperatively with the input sheet feeder. The fold rollers feed the folded sheet into the folded sheets output path. The sensor system there provides a control signal modifying the selected stopping position of the reversible rollers, to provide a fold position correction system. For integral or separate fold skew correction, the reversible rollers are transversely spaced and separately servo driven, and the sensor system is a plural sensor array extending transversely across the folded sheets path to provide skew correction signals differently controlling the selected stopping positions of the separately driven reversible rollers. Additionally disclosed is a special fold position correction system for 1/2 or even-folded sheets.

摘要: In a sheet compiling and fastening system, in which a plurality of printed sheets may be stacked in a compiler with their opposing lateral edges being tamped with opposing edge tampers repositionable to different sheet dimensions, dual U shaped binding edge registration members are respectively connected to these dual edge tampers, laterally offset, so as to automatically reposition therewith for optimized registering of a binding edge of the sheets which is orthogonal to the tamped sheet edges. A single stapler is movable parallel to this binding registration edge for selectably plurally stapling the stacked sheets, and the edge registration members are dimensioned to be movable by the edge tamper movement system directly through the open jaw of the stapler to avoid interference and provide a more compact system.

摘要: An apparatus for stacking, registering and attaching one or multiple sets of electrophotographic printing machine output. The copy sheets are discharged from the machine and fall into an inclined compiling tray and are longitudinally registered by flexible, endless belts contacting the top surface of each sheet. Each sheet is then laterally shifted by a tamping mechanism which has upwardly flared baffle to corrugate the sheet as it is shifted to increase the sheet beam strength and facilitate easier and more complete registration. The discharge nip assembly which includes the flexible belts is vertically adjustable either based on discharged sheet count or in response to feedback from a stack height sensor so as to maintain optimum contact by the endless registration belt and allow for high capacity compiling. The compiling tray can also be adjustable. Once a complete set of sheets has been discharged and fully registered the stack is then attached by stapling or other means and is discharged from the compiling tray. The discharge nip and compiling tray then return to their home position to accept the next set of copy sheets.

摘要: Devices and methods provide route guidance by maintaining a plurality of user preferences, receiving a beginning location and an ending location of a trip, and receiving a trip purpose of the trip. Such devices and methods automatically generate multiple different routes between the beginning location and the ending location, automatically create a subset of less than all of the user preferences that match the trip purpose to produce purpose-specific preferences, and automatically rank the multiple different routes by ranking routes that match more of the purpose-specific preferences ahead of routes that match less of the purpose-specific preferences to produce a ranked order. Then, such devices and methods automatically output the multiple different routes in the ranked order.

摘要: According to aspects illustrated herein, a system, a printmaking device, and a method for pre-curling and registering media are provided herein. The system includes a media curler system and a deskew mechanism. The media curler system pre-curls at least one of lead edge and a trail edge of a sheet before delivery to a media hold-down transport. The deskew mechanism is coupled to the media curler system for pivoting the media curler system about a pivot axis to deskew the sheet. The pivot axis extends perpendicular to the media transport path. In operation, as the lead edge enters the pre-curling and registration system, the media curler system pre-curls the sheet towards the media hold-down transport. As the sheet is being pre-curled, the deskew mechanism pivots the media curler system about the pivot axis to correct any skew errors in the sheet.

摘要: Embodiments described herein include a multi-color printing system in which color-to-color registration errors due to cyclical belt motion errors are minimized. A belt for transporting a substrate media or at least a partial image into a plurality of panels is segmented. A first one of the panels has a first location on the belt for receiving substrate media or a partial image. A first belt motion error value corresponding to the first one of the panels on the belt is identified and at least one image marking unit is calibrated to counteract the first belt motion error corresponding to the first one of the panels.
