Abstract:
A syringe for use in a pressurized injection of a fluid includes a syringe barrel including a polymeric material having undergone expansion via blow molding. A preform for blow molding a blow molded syringe is described, the preform including a proximal end having a retention mechanism adapted to connect to the syringe to a powered injector, a distal end having a syringe outlet section, and a barrel section between the retention mechanism and the syringe outlet section, wherein the barrel section is adapted to be blow molded to form a cylindrical wall of a syringe barrel defined between the retention mechanism and the syringe outlet section.
Abstract:
A system and method of assembling a disposable fluid pump device is provided. The fluid pump device includes a pump body having a plurality of pump cylinders and at least one inlet selector valve for controlling fluid input to the pump cylinders. The method includes the steps of identifying at least one initial inlet selector valve position; generating, with at least one processor, encoded data representing at least the at least one inlet selector valve position; and setting the at least one selector valve to the at least one initial inlet selector valve position.

Abstract:
A fluid pump device is operable by a drive and actuating system. The fluid pump device includes a pump manifold, a plurality of pump cylinders, a plunger reciprocally operable in each of the pump cylinders, and at least one inlet selector valve. The pump cylinders may extend proximally from the pump manifold and are in selective fluid communication with the pump manifold via, for example, respective inlet and outlet check valves. The plungers are reciprocally operable within the pump cylinders and are independently and reciprocally operable by respective piston linear actuators provided in the drive and actuating system. The inlet selector valve is used to establish selective fluid communication between one or more fluid source containers and the pump manifold to control fluid flow into the pump manifold. The inlet selector valve may be located laterally outboard of the pump cylinders and extend generally parallel to the pump cylinders.
Abstract:
A selector valve for a medical fluid delivery device is disclosed. The valve includes a valve bore in fluid communication with an outlet channel, first and second outlet ports, and a selector valve body which includes a valve stem located within the valve bore and having a flow passage. The selector valve body is adapted to place the flow passage in fluid communication with one of the first outlet port, the second outlet port, and a shut-off position. Further, the selector valve body includes a sealing arrangement having an elastomeric core disposed within a thin-walled valve stem which comprises a thin cylindrical sidewall in direct contact with the valve bore. When the elastomeric core and the valve stem are subjected to internal fluid pressure, the thin cylindrical sidewall of the valve stem expands outward to increase a sealing force between an outer diameter of the valve stem and the valve bore.

Abstract:
A pressure isolation mechanism including a valve housing which defines a first lumen associated with a pressurizing device, a second lumen associated with an input line which connects a low pressure fluid delivery system to the valve housing, and a pressure isolation port is disclosed. The pressure isolation mechanism further includes a first valve having a normally open position permitting fluid communication between the first lumen and the second lumen and movable to a closed position when fluid pressure in the first lumen reaches a predetermined pressure level, and a second valve disposed within the second lumen and regulating fluid flow through the second lumen, wherein the second valve substantially isolates the input line from a pressure transducer connected to the pressure isolation port. A method for correcting for dampened hemodynamic blood pressure signals in a fluid delivery system which includes the pressure isolation mechanism is also described.
Abstract:
The fluid delivery system includes a pressurizing device for delivering a pressurized injection fluid, a low pressure fluid delivery system, and a pressure isolation mechanism adapted for fluid communication with the pressurizing device and low pressure fluid delivery system. The pressure isolation mechanism includes a housing defining an inlet port, an isolation port, and an internal cavity. The housing defines a seal seat in the internal cavity between the inlet port and isolation port. A valve member is disposed in the internal cavity. The valve member is free floating in the internal cavity and is adapted to engage the seal seat. The valve member has an open position permitting fluid communication between the inlet port and isolation port, and is fluid flow responsive to fluid flow in the inlet port to engage the seal seat and attain a closed position preventing fluid flow between the inlet port and isolation port.
