摘要: A device, system, and method for printing a vein map onto a patient's skin may include a probe and a printer. The probe may be configured to identify a location of a target vein beneath the patient's skin. The printer may be configured to receive the location and, using the location, print the vein map onto the patient's skin to indicate the location. The vein map may comprise antimicrobial ink printed onto the patient's skin with one or more colors and/or one or more patterns. The vein map may be a two-dimensional vein map or a three-dimensional vein map that indicates the location of the target vein within the patient, a width of the target vein, and/or a depth of the target vein within the patient.

摘要: A medical instrument or device, such as a catheter, has echogenic properties, in addition to or as an alternative to radiopaque properties, to facilitate detection of the medical instrument or device during medical procedures using suitable imaging methods, such as ultrasound imaging and/or x-ray imaging methods. In example embodiments, an example catheter has a relatively increased radiopacity and echogenicity to facilitate a clinician with detecting the catheter with ultrasound imaging and/or x-ray imaging methods to assist the clinician with the insertion, placement, and/or maintenance of the catheter, for example.

摘要: A peripheral catheter having a catheter tip diffuser for reducing an exit velocity of an infusant within the catheter. Pluralities of diffusion side holes are provided on the tip portion of the catheter. Some examples further include pluralities of annularly arranged, staggered diffusion holes provided on the tip portion of an intravenous catheter to streamline infusant issued from the diffusion holes. An inner surface of each diffusion hole is further angled relative to the inner surface of the catheter lumen such that an infusant within the lumen exits the catheter though the diffusion holes at an angle less than 90°.

摘要: A smart obturator assembly includes a hub forming a central passage. The hub is configured to couple to a proximal end of a device that forms a lumen such that the central passage is in fluid communication with the lumen. A collar on the hub includes electronic circuitry in signal communication with remote reception circuitry. An obturator is movably positionable within the lumen. The obturator is movable within the lumen between a first position and a second position. The obturator includes a distal end and a sensor at the distal end. The sensor is configured to sense an environmental characteristic within a patient’s blood stream, generate a signal representative of the environmental characteristic, and transmit the signal to the electronic circuitry. The electronic circuitry is configured to receive the signal and transmit the signal to the remote reception circuitry.

摘要: A cover for magnetizing a shaft of a tissue-penetrating medical device is disclosed including a sleeve member having a hollow body to form a protective closure over the shaft of the tissue-penetrating medical device. The proximal end of the hollow body provides a receiving space for receiving the shaft of the tissue-penetrating medical device. One or more magnet is disposed on the sleeve member. A magnetic shield composed of one or more shielding materials associated with the cover that minimizes any effects to the clinical environment from magnetic fields generated within the cover. Medical devices and methods of magnetizing the shaft of a tissue-penetrating medical device using the cover are also disclosed.
