摘要: An implantable medical device (IMD) includes a heterogeneous housing configured to receive and store one or more components of the IMD. The housing includes an intrinsically non-conductive and non-magnetic base material and at least one dopant with a property of at least one of electrical conductance and magnetic permeability. The base material and the dopant form a first region of the housing including a first skin depth and a second region of the housing including a second skin depth different than the first skin depth.

Some apparatuses include a pump housing having one or more walls extending from a proximal end to a distal end, a hub rotatably coupled to the proximal end, and a peristaltic pump coupled to the hub and configured to cause fluid flow through a flexible tube when the hub is rotated relative to the pump housing, where at least a portion of the pump is disposed within the pump housing. Some apparatuses include a rotor and an interior cam surface, where the rotor is configured to cause fluid flow through a flexible tube as the hub is rotated by compressing at least a portion of the flexible tube between the rotor and the interior cam surface. Some apparatuses are configured to be coupled in fixed relation to a housing of a driver.

摘要: Systems, methods, and devices for humidifying a breathing gas are presented. The system includes a base unit, a vapor transfer unit, a nasal cannula, and a liquid container. The base unit includes a blower. The vapor transfer unit is external to the base unit and includes a gas passage, a liquid passage, a gas outlet, and a membrane separating the gas passage and the liquid passage. The membrane permits transfer of vapor into the gas passage from liquid in the liquid passage. The nasal cannula is coupled to the gas outlet. The liquid container is configured to reversibly mate with the base unit.

摘要: A cover for magnetizing a shaft of a tissue-penetrating medical device is disclosed including a sleeve member having a hollow body to form a protective closure over the shaft of the tissue-penetrating medical device. The proximal end of the hollow body provides a receiving space for receiving the shaft of the tissue-penetrating medical device. One or more magnet is disposed on the sleeve member. A magnetic shield composed of one or more shielding materials associated with the cover that minimizes any effects to the clinical environment from magnetic fields generated within the cover. Medical devices and methods of magnetizing the shaft of a tissue-penetrating medical device using the cover are also disclosed.

摘要: One aspect of an intravascular ventricular assist device is an implantable blood pump where the pump includes a housing defining a bore having an axis, one or more rotors disposed within the bore, each rotor including a plurality of magnetic poles, and one or more stators surrounding the bore for providing a magnetic field within the bore to induce rotation of each of the one or more rotors. Another aspect of the invention includes methods of providing cardiac assistance to a mammalian subject as, for example, a human. Further aspects of the invention include rotor bodies having helical channels formed longitudinally along the length of the body of the rotor where each helical channel is formed between peripheral support surface areas facing radially outwardly and extending generally in circumferential directions around the rotational axis of the rotor.

摘要: A dry powder delivery device may be configured to provide micronized dry powder particles to airways of a user. The device may include a cylindrical container delimiting a chamber containing at least one magnetically-responsive object, a motor external to said chamber, a magnet external to the chamber and rotatably coupled with the motor, and an outflow member configured to direct airflow to a user. The magnetically-responsive object may be coated with micronized dry powder particles, and the motor may be operable to rotate the magnet about an axis. Rotation of the magnet creates a magnetic field that causes the magnetically-responsive object to move in response to the magnetic field and collide with a side wall of the container to deaggregate the dry powder particles and aerosolize the dry powder in the chamber.

摘要: An endotracheal (ET) tube probe system is configured to identify a proper placement of an ET tube that is placed inside a human body. The system includes a longitudinal member having a first end and an oppositely positioned second end; a magnet positioned at the second end; at least one positional indicator arranged on the longitudinal member; and a mechanism having at least one metallic needle, wherein the longitudinal member is configured to be inserted into the ET tube that is placed in the human body, and wherein the at least one metallic needle is configured to align with the magnet when the mechanism is placed adjacent to and outside of the human body. The top of the at least one positional indicator may be adapted to align with a top of the ET tube to indicate a proper placement of the longitudinal member relative to the ET tube.

摘要: A method and apparatus for a connection interface between a reservoir or syringe, infusion set tubing, and an infusion pump is provided. The reservoir, a base and a cap are connected to form an integrated unit that is capable of being inserted and secured in an infusion pump housing. The cap and the infusion pump are each provided with at least one sensor or at least one detectable feature, arranged to interact with at least one corresponding detectable feature or sensor on the other of the cap and infusion pump device, to detect one or more of the presence, position or other characteristic of the cap when the cap is aligned or coupled with the infusion pump housing. The detectable feature and sensor may be magnetic, RF, mechanical, optical or any combination.
