摘要: An ink absorbing substrate suitable for use in inkjet printing systems is provided. The substrate comprises at least one continuous fiber bonded to itself at points of contact to form a substantially self-sustaining structure for retaining ink. The continuous fiber preferably is a bicomponent fiber having a core material and a sheath material at least partially surrounding the core material. The core material preferably is a crystalline thermoplastic polymer and the sheath material preferably is low density polyethylene modified with a cycloolefin copolymer.

摘要: A flow control element is provided for use in selectively controlling the flow of a liquid through an annular conduit. The flow control element comprises a self-sustaining, three dimensional fibrous element comprising a network of polymeric fibers. These fibers are disposed in a highly dispersed and randomly spaced orientation and are bonded to each other at spaced apart points of contact to form a tortuous interstitial passage through the fiber element. The fibrous element has a substantially uniform density and is sized for disposition in the lumen with an interference fit relative to the inner conduit surface. The fibrous element divides the lumen into a proximal lumen portion and a distal lumen portion when so disposed. The fibrous element is adapted to prevent passage of the liquid through the conduit when disposed therein absent a differential pressure between the distal conduit portion and the proximal conduit portion of at least a first predetermined critical differential pressure. The fibrous element allows passage of the liquid through the conduit when the differential pressure between the distal conduit portion and the proximal conduit portion equals or exceeds the first predetermined critical differential pressure. In some embodiments, the fibrous element may also be adapted so that it will move from its first position in the lumen to a second position when the differential pressure between the distal conduit portion and the proximal conduit portion equals or exceeds a second predetermined critical differential pressure.

摘要: A process for drying a spray dried dispersion, comprising: a) providing a spray-dried dispersion comprising particles wherein the particles comprise an active agent and a polymer and optionally one or more surfactants, the dispersion having an average particle diameter of less than about 100 m; b) blending an amount of silicon dioxide with the dispersion to form a dispersion-silicon dioxide blend, wherein the amount of silicon dioxide relative to the amount of dispersion is between about 0.5 and 2.0% by weight; c) drying the blend with a secondary dryer.
