摘要: A method for the automatic pairing of a device wirelessly with a first secure WLAN provided by a pairing access point using first set of security credentials, involving: establishing automatically a connection between the device and a second WLAN provided by an available access point, and authenticating the device with the second WLAN using a second set of security credentials stored on the device; identifying the pairing access point using the second set of security credentials; creating a tunnel between the device and the pairing access point over the second WLAN; making a request from the device, via the tunnel, to a provisioning server on the pairing access point for transfer of the second set of security credentials, being the security credentials needed to pair with the first secure WLAN, from the pairing access point to the device; and using the second set of security credentials to configure the security settings for the first secure WLAN in the device.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for controlling wireless communication between a first wireless access point and one or more user devices, the first access point having an interface for communication with the user devices on one or more wireless communication channels in a predetermined frequency range, and also being configured to communicate with one or more other wireless access points. The access points each have a radar detector operable to detect possible radar signals within the frequency range, and are configured to provide information indicative of whether or not possible radar signals have been detected. The first access point receives communications relating to information provided by the other access points, and starts or stops wireless communications with its user devices on a particular channel based on whether or not it has detected possible radar signals together with whether or not the other wireless access points have detected possible radar signals.

摘要: A wireless access point device capable of detecting out-of-band interference to the operation of the Wi-Fi network caused by LTE small cell devices such as macrocells and femtocells. A flow processor monitors the characteristics of data flows of devices connected to the wireless access point to determine whether they are LTE cells based on MAC address matching or the termination of a flow at a known mobile network operator gateway. A mitigation action to change the operational behavior of the wireless access point is then generated and applied to mitigate the effect of the detected interference device on the Wi-Fi network.

摘要: A method for the automatic pairing of a device (401) wirelessly with a user's secure WLAN provided by an access point (403), the pairing access point (403), that provides the secure wireless LAN and a second wireless LAN (e.g. a public Wi-Fi hotspot). A connection is established automatically between the device (401) and a wireless LAN provided by an available access point (410) using security credentials stored on the device (401). If it is determined that the available access point (410) is also the pairing access point (403), using the established connection to securely transfer second security credentials from the available access point (410) to the device (401). The transferred second security credentials can then be used to establish a secure connection between the device (401) and the first secure wireless LAN provided by the pairing access point (403).

摘要: The disclosure concerns automatic pairing of a user's new device wirelessly with the user's private wireless access point. An open WLAN is used to connect a wireless pairing client (WPC) in the device with a pairing initiation server (PIS) in an ISP's network. If the open WLAN uses a “captive portal” to redirect HTTPS requests to a login page, a “pinhole” is provided so that HTTP requests addressed to the PIS are not redirected. The device stores the SSID of a suitable open WLAN and connects automatically when powered up. The WPC makes an HTTP request, including an ID for the device, to the PIS. The PIS uses the device ID to retrieve an IP address of the user's access point. The PIS then sends instruction to WPS Pairing Initiator Clients, the device and the access point to initiate a Wi-Fi Protected Setup PBC procedure. The result is that, if they are in range of each other, the device will pair with the user's private wireless LAN using WPS PBC but without the need for the user herself needing to act beyond simply powering up the new device.

摘要: Wireless access point devices having wireless networks operating in accordance with 802.11b/g 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi can be affected by out-of-band interference caused by LTE small cell devices such as macrocells and femtocells. The wireless access points detect such interference devices using a flow processor to monitor the characteristics of data flows of devices connected to the wireless access point to determine whether they are LTE cells based on MAC address matching or the termination of a flow at a known mobile network operator gateway. When a cell is detected, the wireless access point scans for neighboring wireless networks of neighboring wireless access points which may also be affected by the interference generated by the LTE cell. A management server processes information relating the LTE cell and the neighboring wireless networks and generates a mitigation action to change the operational behavior of the wireless access point and any neighboring wireless access points to mitigate the effect of the detected interference device on the wireless networks.

摘要: A method of controlling wireless Internet access is disclosed. A problem with conventional wireless Internet access is that users of wireless Internet access devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptop computers are often presented with an indication of the availability of an Internet connection, but find when they try to use that connection that it is of a disappointing quality. In some cases, the disappointing quality is caused by a poor radio link between the wireless device and an access point. In order to alleviate the problem in those cases, a method of controlling wireless Internet access is disclosed in which the attachment of a wireless device to a wireless network triggers the access point providing that wireless network to send the wireless device a series of test frames. Only if successful receipt of those test frames is acknowledged by the wireless device, does the access point provide the wireless device with the information it needs in order to establish a connection to the Internet through the access point.

摘要: A wireless router having a WiFi wireless network and including a small cell for routing LTE cellular data to a mobile network core is configured to monitor connected mobile devices and determine whether each mobile device should be connect to the hub using WiFi or LTE in accordance with the current utilization of the WiFi network and the current utilization of the LTE small cell. Since the small cell data traffic is encrypted in a data tunnel to the mobile network core, the network identity information of the device's WiFi interface and the device's LTE interface is determined by consulting an address mapping store in the cellular mobile network core.
