摘要: Methods are disclosed for reduction of muscle fatigue, enhancement of wound healing and tissue repair and/or reduction of pain. The methods comprise irradiating a muscle or an injured tissue of a subject, as applicable, with pulsed blue and/or red light having an average irradiance that ranges from 0.1 mW/cm2 to 20 mW/cm2 at a radiant exposure that ranges from 0.5 J/cm2 to 60 J/cm2. The pulsed blue and/or red light is preferably applied with a flexible light source that includes a flexible light emitter positioned between a flexible anode and a flexible cathode. The flexible light emitter may comprise a printed LED film or OLEDs that emit blue and/or red light, or a printed LED film or OLEDs that emit blue light in combination with a quantum dot film that converts a portion of the blue light emission into red light.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a system and method for photoeradication of microorganisms from a target. The method includes the step of obtaining test data for a plurality of experiments each of which comprises irradiating test microorganisms with a plurality of light pulses having a wavelength that ranges from 380 nm to 500 nm. The light pulses have a plurality of pulse parameters (peak irradiance, pulse duration, and off time between adjacent light pulses) and are provided at a radiant exposure that ranges from 0.5 J/cm2 to 60 J/cm2 during each of a plurality of irradiation sessions. The test data comprises a survival rate for the test microorganisms after irradiation with the light pulses. The method also includes the step of analyzing the test data to identify the pulse parameters for the light pulses and the radiant exposure for each of the irradiation sessions that result in a desired survival rate for the test microorganisms. The method further includes the step of irradiating the microorganisms of the target with light pulses having the identified pulse parameters at the identified radiant exposure for each of the irradiation sessions so as to photoeradicate all or a portion of the microorganisms.

摘要: A flexible device having a layered structure for delivering light or ultrasound to a skin surface. The device includes a flexible substrate that supports either a flexible light emitter layer or a flexible ultrasound emitter layer, as well as first and second flexible conductive layers. The device has a surface configured to face the skin surface, wherein (a) the light emitter layer emits pulsed light with an intensity that is substantially constant across the device's surface when driven by a power source connected to the conductive layers to thereby deliver a therapeutically effective dose of pulsed light to the skin surface or (b) the ultrasound emitter layer emits ultrasound with an intensity that is substantially constant across the device's surface when driven by a power source connected to the conductive layers to thereby deliver a therapeutically effective dose of ultrasound to the skin surface.

摘要: A flexible device having a layered structure for delivering electrical stimulation and one or both of light and ultrasound to a skin surface is provided. The device is flexible so as to form a non-planar contact surface against the skin surface, and includes one or both of (a) a flexible light emitter layer positioned between two flexible conductive layers that emits light when driven by a power source and (b) a flexible ultrasound emitter layer positioned between two flexible conductive layers that produces ultrasound when driven by a power source. The device also includes a flexible electrical stimulation layer that functions as an electrode and is configured to provide electrical stimulation when driven by a power source.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a system and method for photoeradication of microorganisms from a target. The target is irradiated with pulsed purple or blue light in which (a) the light pulses have a peak irradiance and a pulse duration sufficient to optically excite a photoactive molecule capable of photoeradication of the microorganisms and (b) the light pulses are separated by an off time sufficient to allow the photoactive molecule to return to a ground state creating an oxidation reaction that produces free radicals which destroy a cellular structure of the microorganisms and thereby photoeradicate all or a portion of the microorganisms. The photoactive molecule may comprise either an endogenous molecule present in the microorganisms or an exogenous molecule applied to the target.
