Abstract:
A system and method enabling the receipt of image data of a patient, identification of one or more locations within the image data depicting symptoms of COPD, analyzing airways and vasculature proximate the identified locations; planning a pathway to the one or more locations, navigating an extended working channel to one of the locations, positioning a microwave ablation catheter proximate the location, and energizing the microwave ablation catheter to treat the locations depicting symptoms of COPD.
Abstract:
Microwave ablation devices and systems and method including the devices are provided. The microwave ablation device includes a cable assembly operably coupled to an energy source, a feedline in electrical communication with the cable assembly, a balun disposed on the feedline, an outer tubular member through which the feedline at least partially extends, and an inflatable barrier disposed on the outer tubular member proximal to the balun.

Abstract:
A system includes an energy source configured to generate therapeutic energy, a treatment probe, an ultrasound imaging device configured to generate ultrasound images, a second tracking sensor configured to track a location of the ultrasound imaging device, and a tracking system configured to receive location information from the first and second tracking sensors and to overlay the ultrasound images with a graphical representation of the treatment probe on a display based on the location information. The treatment probe includes an antenna configured to treat tissue with the therapeutic energy and a first tracking sensor integrated in the antenna and configured to track a location of a distal tip of the antenna.
Abstract:
A coupling mechanism includes a base and a lever. The base is configured to couple to an external fixture. The lever is pivotably coupled to the base and transitionable between a clamped configuration and an unclamped configuration. A first pair of opposed arms extends from the base and a second pair of opposed arms extends from the lever in opposed relation to the first pair of opposed arms. In the clamped configuration the second pair of opposed arms are proximate the first pair of opposed arms, and in the unclamped configuration the second pair of opposed arms are spaced apart from the first pair of opposed arms. At least one of the first pair of opposed arms or the second pair of opposed arms includes a step thereon. The step is configured to receive and retain a surgical tool therein in the clamped configuration.
Abstract:
A system and method of ultrasound imaging, the system including a laparoscopic surgical instrument including at least one ultrasound transducer, and a processor adapted to receive acoustic data from the ultrasound transducer and process the acoustic data from the ultrasound transducer to produce a graphical representation of the acoustic data, the graphical representation depicting echoic attributes of tissue substantially axially aligned with a transmission path of the at least one ultrasound transducer, and the distance of at least one tissue type having different echoic attributes from surrounding tissue form a distal tip of the laparoscopic surgical instrument.
Abstract:
A surgical instrument for providing an ionized gas to a surgical site includes a receptacle for at least one cylinder of pressurized surgical gas and a frame having a port near the distal end for emitting the surgical gas. A passageway extending between the receptacle and the port delivers the surgical gas to the port. A puncture assembly for rupturing a seal on at least one cylinder to release the surgical gas into the passageway includes at least one bank for storing mechanical energy which may include at least one spring. An actuator is operable to actuate the at least one bank release the mechanical energy. At least one puncture pin is operatively coupled to the at least one bank such that energy released by the at least one bank is effective to move the at least one puncture pin relative to at least one cylinder to rupture the seal.
