Abstract: An ultrasound system according to some embodiments may include an ultrasound transducer configured to transmit ultrasound pulses toward tissue and generate echo signals responsive to the ultrasound pulses, a channel memory configured to store the echo signals, a beamformer configured to generated beamformed signals responsive to the echo signals, a neural network configured to receive one or more samples of the echo signals or the beamformed signals and produce a first type of ultrasound imaging data, and a processor configured to generate a second type of ultrasound imaging data, wherein the one or more processors may be further configured to generate an ultrasound image based on the first type of ultrasound imaging data and the second type of ultrasound imaging data and to cause a display communicatively coupled therewith to display the ultrasound image.

Abstract: An ultrasound system includes an ultrasound transducer configured to transmit a plurality of ultrasound signals from a plurality of elements in a transducer array to a region of interest. The ultrasound transducer is configured to receive and sample a plurality of backscattered ultrasound signals from the region of interest. A processing unit is configured to calculate a local phase parameter in the time-domain for each of the plurality of backscattered ultrasound signals and calculate a center frequency for each of the local phase parameters. A beamformer is configured to perform receiver beamforming by summing the center frequencies. The ultrasound system is further configured to generate at least one parameter representative of a physical property of the region of interest based on the summed center frequencies. An ultrasound method for generating at least one parameter representative of a physical property of a region of interest is also disclosed.

Abstract: A measurement device includes: a processing device and multiple sensors that capture tomographic information of a physiological structure. The sensors include a first sensor including a first transducer having a first frequency response with a first resonant frequency, and a second sensor including a second transducer having a second frequency response with a second resonant frequency different from the first resonant frequency. The first frequency response partially overlaps with the second frequency response. The second transducer transmits a signal that is reflected by the physiological structure to create a reflected signal, the first transducer generates a first received signal from the reflected signal, the second transducer generates a second received signal from the reflected signal, and the processing device normalizes the first received signal with the second received signal or the second received signal with the first received signal.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for guiding the acquisition of ultrasound data. The method begins by obtaining ultrasound data from a plurality of data acquisition planes and performing spatial registration of the data acquisition planes. A number of vessels are then identified in each data acquisition plane. A location of a vessel bifurcation is then identified based on the spatial registration of the data acquisition planes and the number of vessels in each data acquisition plane. A guidance instruction is generated based on the location of the vessel bifurcation, wherein the guidance instruction is adapted to indicate a location to obtain further ultrasound data.

Abstract: An ultrasound catheter includes a distal port and a proximal port and is adapted to provide fluid communication between the distal port and the proximal port. The ultrasound catheter includes an ultrasound transducer. The ultrasound catheter may be advanced through a guide catheter that is positioned within a patient's vasculature and is fluidly coupled with the patient's blood. A vacuum may be applied to the proximal port, causing the patient's blood to be slowly pulled into the ultrasound catheter through the distal port such that any air near the ultrasound transducer is replaced with the patient's blood and the ultrasound transducer is surrounded by the patient's blood, which is an optimal imaging medium. The ultrasound transducer may be operated to obtain ultrasound images while applying the vacuum to the proximal port.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to medical imaging systems that instantly and/or automatically detect borders. Embodiments of the invention provide an imaging system that automatically detects a border at a location within a vessel in response only to navigational input moving the image to that location. In some embodiments, systems and methods of the invention operate such that when a doctor moves an imaging catheter to a new location with in tissue, the system essentially instantly finds, and optionally displays, the border(s), calculates an occlusion, or both.
