    Abstract: According to one exemplary embodiment, a frequency synthesizer module includes a loop filter, where the loop filter includes a capacitor having a first terminal and a second terminal. The frequency synthesizer module further includes a loop filter calibration module coupled to the capacitor in the loop filter. The loop filter calibration module causes an initial capacitance between the first terminal and the second terminal of the capacitor to increase to a target capacitance when the loop filter is in a calibration mode. The target capacitance can causes in increase in control of a bandwidth of the loop filter and a reduction in percent error of a unity gain bandwidth of the loop filter. The loop filter further includes a switched capacitor array configured to cause the initial capacitance to increase to the target capacitance in response to a digital feedback signal provided by the loop filter calibration module.

    Abstract: An apparatus for detecting an abnormality of a recorded signal of a recorder/player includes a plurality of recording/reproducing heads for recording/reproducing a signal onto/from a medium, and a determining portion for determining an abnormality of the recorded signal based on the signal reproduced by the recording/reproducing heads. While one recording/reproducing head records the signal of image and/or sound on the medium, the other recording/reproducing head reproduces the signal recorded by the recording/reproducing head. The determining portion determines the abnormality of the recorded signal by determining whether or not the signal reproduced from the medium is in a normal data format, or by determining whether or not an envelope of reproduced signals is greater than a predetermined level. Accordingly, when abnormality of recorded signal occurs due to a presence of foreign substances on the heads or from other problem sources, a user is immediately notified of such an abnormality.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for dubbing a recording tape in a video recording and reproducing device. A source video recording and reproducing device reproduces data of a source recording tape in response to a dubbing demand from a user and confirms an error recording portion and a data unrecorded portion. The source video recording and reproducing device performs error correction with respect to the error recording portion and generates a non-recording control pulse with respect to the data unrecorded portion. The reproduced data and the non-recording control pulse is transmitted to a target video recording and reproducing device. The target video recording and reproducing device records, in a target recording tape, the reproduced data except data transmitted during an interval of the non-recording control pulse.
