    摘要: A process for preparing phosphonium salts of the general formula I in which the substituents have the following meanings, independently of one another: R aryl; X anion of an organic or inorganic acid selected from the group consisting of hydrohalic acids, sulfuric acid, sulfonic acids, phosphoric acid and C1-C6-alkanoic acids, by reacting 3,7,11-trimethyldodeca-1,4,6,10-tetraen-3-ol of the formula II with triarylphosphane and organic or inorganic acids selected from the abovementioned group, wherein in a two-stage process a) initially a tertiary phosphonium salt of the formula III  in which the radicals R and X have the abovementioned meanings, is prepared at temperatures in the range from −20 to 40° C., and b) the tertiary phosphonium salt of the formula III which is formed is rearranged to the primary phosphonium salt of the formula I at temperatures in the range from 40 to 100° C.

    摘要: Systems and methods are described for adjusting the operation of implantable stimulation devices used to provide medical monitoring and treatment. Several hierarchical algorithms are described which operate according to conditionally obtaining a patient response to an alert signal. In one such strategy semi-automatic therapy adjustment occurs by automatically issuing patient alert messages when selected operations are to occur, and using a patient's response to the alert message that is provided within a selected time limit in order to contingently adjust therapy. Methods are also described for resolving conflicts which may occur when time information and sensed data information each indicate different patient states are occurring. Although treatment of neural and cardiac disorders is emphasized, the techniques can be applied to the monitoring and treatment of any medical disorder with an implanted device.

    摘要: A modular pallet system definable in terms of xyz Cartesian coordinates includes a base structure in a lower xy plane having a x- and y-linear axis members internestable with each other at regions of orthogonal intersection to form a rectilinear matrix, each region of intersection of each linear member including an aperture of like geometry to each other aperture. The pallet system further includes a lower snap-lock elements, equal in number to that of the regions of orthogonal intersection, the snap elements proportioned for complemental securement within each of the apertures within each of the regions of orthogonal intersection of the x- and y-axis members with each other, each of the lower snap-lock elements including integrally projecting positive z-axis locking prongs. The system also includes a plurality of z-axis separators, equal in number to that of the regions of intersection within the lower xy plane, each of the separators proportioned, in all xy planes, for enclosure of the z-axis locking prongs of the lower snap-lock elements, the separators further including four integral z-axis sides, and open xy planes at upper and lower faces. The separators operate to define a rigid z-axis dimension of the pallet system.

    摘要: A steaming device for skin treatment includes a base, having an upper and lower surface, the base including a reservoir for water and a non-corrodible conductance element which is defined by two side-by-side vertically positioned electrodes which extend a part of the height of the reservoir. The electrodes diverge from each other as they approach the bottom of the bottom of the base to reduce current flow between them, this compensating for increased conductivity due to mineralization of the water near the bottom of the reservoir that occurs with vaporization and which mineralization would otherwise increase voltage between electrodes to a hazardous level. The device further includes a top portion including an upper and a lower area, and a container for therapeutic substances to be mingled with steam produced by the effect of the conductance element on the water. The device also includes an arm having a proximal and distal end, and hollow interior, in which the arm communicates with the top portion at the arm's proximal end and in which the arm includes an expulsory aperture enabling steam to escape at the distal end of the arm.
