The method includes monitoring a battery voltage with respect to a threshold voltage. The method further includes coupling the charging control logic supply to the battery voltage, generating an active high second control signal, and charging the battery at a second rate when the battery voltage exceeds the threshold voltage. The first charging rate is slower than the second charging rate. The method further includes supplying battery power to a charger line when the battery voltage exceeds the charger voltage, and suppressing a leakage current.
