摘要: A laminated glass article including a base layer, an anisotropic layer disposed over a top surface of the base layer, and a glass layer disposed over the anisotropic layer. The anisotropic layer may include homogeneous mechanical anisotropic properties measured at intervals of 250 microns. In some embodiments, the anisotropic layer may be an orthotropic layer including homogeneous mechanical orthotropic properties measured at intervals of 250 microns. The homogenous mechanical anisotropic or orthotropic properties of the anisotropic layer may provide a flexible laminated glass article with a high resistance to impact and puncture forces. In some embodiments, the laminated glass article may define all or a portion of a cover substrate for a consumer product.

摘要: Disclosed is a method of forming a vehicle interior component. In the method, a glass article is arranged on a forming surface of a forming surface. The glass article has a first major surface and a second major surface. The first major surface faces the forming surface, and the second major surface is opposite to the first major surface. The second major surface includes a region having a surface free energy of at least 35 mN/m. An adhesive is applied to the region of the second major surface of the glass article. The adhesive is contacted with a frame to attach the frame to the glass article.

摘要: Described herein are laminate structures with enhanced sound-damping properties and mechanical properties. The laminates are composed of an interlayer stucture disposed between a first glass substrate and a second glass substrate, wherein the interlayer is composed of a polymer layer designed such that sound attenuation or damping by the laminate is optimized. The laminates described herein may be used in vehicles or architectural panels. In one or more embodiments, the laminate may be disposed in an opening of a vehicle body. Where the vehicle body is an automobile, the laminate could be used as a windshield, a side window, sunroof or rear windshield. The body of some embodiments may include railcar body, or an airplane body. In other embodiments, the laminate may be used in architectural panels, which may include a window, an interior wall panel, a modular furniture panel, a backsplash, a cabinet panel, or an appliance panel.

摘要: Embodiments of this disclosure pertains to methods for controlling adhesive bondline while cold-bending a glass substrate. The method includes forming a frame to define a viewing area at least partially surrounded by the frame; shaping the frame to include at least one curvature; positioning a spacer proximate the frame, the spacer comprising: a border area; and a protrusion extending from the border area; engaging the border area of the spacer with the frame to insert the protrusion through the viewing area, wherein the protrusion extends beyond the frame a first distance; positioning an adhesive between the frame and the glass substrate alongside the protrusion to control the bondline; engaging a glass substrate with the adhesive and the protrusion to cold form the glass substrate to the shape of the frame; and securing the glass substrate to the spacer to hold the frame against the adhesive to maintain the bondline.
