摘要: A method of making a glass sheet comprises laminating a high CTE core glass to a low CTE clad glass at high temperatures and allowing the laminate to cool creating compressive stress in the clad glass, and then ion exchanging the laminate to increase the compressive stress in the outer near surface regions of the clad glass. The core glass may include ions that exchange with ion in the clad glass to increase the compressive stress in inner surface regions of the clad glass adjacent to the clad glass/core glass interfaces. The glass laminate may be formed and laminated using a fusion forming and laminating process and fusion formable and ion exchangeable glass compositions.

摘要: A process for making a glass-ceramic article includes annealing an as-formed glass article formed from a glass-ceramic composition at a first temperature for a duration sufficient to nucleate a plurality of nuclei within a vitreous matrix of the as-formed glass article and forming a post-nucleation glass article. The process also includes annealing the post-nucleation glass article at a second temperature for a duration sufficient to grow crystalline grains within the vitreous matrix of the post-nucleation glass article and forming a glass-ceramic article. The first temperature is less than a glass transition temperature for the glass-ceramic composition and the second temperature is greater than the glass transition temperature for the glass-ceramic composition.

摘要: According to one embodiment, there is an article including a glass-ceramic substrate having a major surface, an optical coating is disposed on the major surface and forms an appearance-enhancing surface, the optical coating including a appearance-enhancing coating, and a scratch-resistant layer. The article exhibits a hardness of 8 GPa or more, and a photopic average diffuse light reflectance measured at the appearance-enhancing surface of one of: (i) about 0.3% or less; (ii) about 0.2% or less; (iii) about 0.1% or less, over an optical wavelength regime in the range from about 400 nm to about 800 nm. Further, in the (L*, a*, b*) colorimetry system of the International Commission on Illumination, at near-normal incidence, the article comprises a diffuse reflectance dE* of one of: (i) about 3 or less; (ii) about 2 or less; or (iii) about 1 or less, where dE* is defined as dE*=sqrt(L*2+a*2+b*2).

The methods and apparatus can be used to predict/estimate stress relaxation in a glass article during forming as well as compaction, stress relaxation, and/or thermal sag or thermal creep of a glass article when the article is subjected to one or more post-forming thermal treatments.

The amount of Ho2O3 (mol. %) is greater than or equal to 0.7 (CeO2 (mol. %)+Pr2O3 (mol. %)+Er2O3 (mol. %)). The glass can include one or more fluorescent ions selected from Cu, Sn, Ce, Eu, Tb, Tm, and combinations thereof in addition to, or in place of the chromophores. The glass can also include multiple fluorescent ions.

The tactile surface may include a textured surface, a coated surface or a coated textured surface that exhibits a low fingerprint visibility, when a fingerprint is applied to the tactile surface. In one or more embodiments, the substrate exhibits an average transmittance of about 80% or greater over the visible spectrum, a coefficient of friction less than about 0.3, a surface roughness Ra of about 500 nm or greater, and either one or both a transmission haze greater than about 60%, and a reflection haze at either 2 degrees from specular or 5 degrees from specular greater than 60%.
