Abstract: The present invention relates to a multilayer hybrid composite comprising: i) at least one layer of a fabric A comprising from 0 to 20 vol % high performance polymer fibers, based on the total volume of the fabric A, and from 100 to 80 vol % fibers selected from the group consisting of glass fibers and carbon fibers, based on the total volume of the fabric A; ii) at least one layer of a fabric B comprising from 20 to 70 vol % high performance polymer fibers, based on the total volume of the fabric B, and from 80 to 20 vol % fibers selected from the group consisting of glass fibers and carbon fibers, based on the total volume of the fabric B; and iii) a matrix material, wherein the at least one layer of the fabric B is adjacent to the at least one layer of the fabric A, and wherein the concentration (vol %) of the high performance polymer fibers in the fabric B is higher than the concentration (vol %) of the high performance polymer fibers in the fabric A, and wherein the high performance polymer fibers have a tenacity of at least 1.5 N/tex.

Abstract: The invention relates to an adhesive tape comprising an adhesive tape comprising a layer A comprising at least one anisotropic tape, wherein said tape comprises ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene; and a layer B comprising a first adhesive being a pressure sensitive adhesive, wherein layer A covers at least 60% of the surface area of layer B. The invention also relates to the use of said adhesive tape in different applications.

Abstract: The present invention relates to hybrid sheet comprising: i) high-performance polyethylene (HPPE) fibers; ii) a polymeric resin, wherein the polymeric resin is selected from a group consisting of a homopolymer of ethylene, a homopolymer of propylene, a copolymer of ethylene, and a copolymer of propylene and wherein said polymeric resin has a density as measured according to ISO1183-2004 in the range from 860 to 970 kg/m3, a peak melting temperature in the range from 40 to 140° C. and a heat of fusion of at least 5 J/g; iii) non-polymeric fibers; and iv) optionally, a matrix material. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process to manufacture the hybrid sheet and to the use of the hybrid sheet in various fields, such as in automotive field, in aerospace field, in sports equipment, in marine field, in military field; and in wind and renewable energy field.

Abstract: The invention relates to hybrid fabric comprising: a high-performance polyethylene (HPPE) fiber having a tensile modulus of at least 110 GPa, preferably higher than 135 GPa, as measured according to ASTM D885M-2014; and a non-polymeric fiber, wherein the cross-sectional area of the HPPE fiber is equal to or smaller than the cross-sectional area of the non-polymeric fiber, the cross-sectional area being defined as the linear density of the fiber divided by volumetric density of the fiber. The invention also relates to a composite comprising the hybrid fabric and to an article comprising the composite.
