摘要: A virtual workspace is provided for a user with a number of electronic devices, in which information can be exchanged among the electronic devices through a number of connections between the electronic devices. The virtual workspace is provided by determining where services are located and the type of the services, determining one or more data formats associated with data accessible by one or more of the electronic devices. A portion of the data has a given one of one or more data formats. An electronic device is selected based at least in part on predetermined criteria and the given data format. A route through the connections to the selected electronic device is determined, where the route may comprise a given one or more of the connections. At least the portion of the data associated with the given data format is routed to the selected electronic device. The portion of the data is utilizable for presentation by the selected electronic device when received by the selected electronic device.

摘要: A computer implemented method, data processing system, and computer program product for automatically aggregating entities via a profile-driven management. A profile is created, wherein the profile includes a set of search criteria comprising one or more server attributes. A list of attributes of each server in the data processing system is obtained. Servers in the plurality of servers whose attributes meet the set of search criteria specified in the profile are then grouped to form a profile group. Once the servers are grouped into a profile, an administrative action may be performed on all of the servers in the profile group simultaneously.

摘要: A system and method for scheduling meetings at conflicting times. The method includes receiving from a meeting requestor a request to schedule a proposed meeting at a time interval. The method also includes determining that the time interval includes a conflicting meeting in an electronic calendar of at least one proposed meeting invitee. The method further includes automatically calculating by a computer processor a free-time probability value for the conflicting meeting based on at least one non-temporal attribute of the conflicting meeting or the proposed meeting. Additionally, the method includes automatically scheduling the proposed meeting if the free-time probability value is beyond a free-time probability threshold.

摘要: A method, system, and computer program for a) buffering instant messages to an intended recipient while the recipient is currently not logged on to an instant messaging system, and b) delivering buffered messages to the intended recipient after the recipient connects the instant messaging system. Thus, users are enabled to initiate instant messaging sessions with other users who are not currently online. An instant messaging device buffers messages and delivers them to the recipient when the recipient comes online. To the recipient, the method of delivery appears identical to the case where the recipient was continuously connected to the system. The main difference is the time delay, i.e. the elapsed time between the time the sender sent it and the time the recipient connected. The recipient is further able to configure the instant messaging device to be selective about which senders are allowed to buffer messages to the recipient while the recipient is disconnected. Sender specific pop-up windows, including the sender's buffered messages, will appear on the recipient's screen after the recipient connects to the system. The recipient can then respond to the instant message and resume the conversation in a real-time (though delayed) manner if the sender is presently online.

摘要: In a computer system having an operating system and a compressed main memory defining a physical memory and a real memory characterized as an amount of main memory as seen by a processor, and including a compressed memory hardware controller device for controlling processor access to the compressed main memory, there is provided a system and method for managing real memory usage comprising: a compressed memory device driver for receiving real memory usage information from the compressed memory hardware controller, the information including a characterization of the real memory usage state: and, a compression management subsystem for monitoring the memory usage and initiating memory allocation and memory recovery in accordance with the memory usage state, the subsystem including mechanism for adjusting memory usage thresholds for controlling memory state changes. Such a system and method is implemented in software operating such that control of the real memory usage in the computer system is transparent to the operating system.
