摘要： A power line for an electrical submersible pump has three metallic impermeable tubes. A single electrical conductor is located within each of the tubes. Each conductor has at least one elastomeric insulation layer surrounding it. An annular portion of the insulation layer of each of the electrical conductors is in tight contact with the tube to form a seal. The annular portions may be annular crimps formed in the tube at intervals. The annular portion could also be a continuous seal caused by swelling of the insulation layer due to contact with a hydrocarbon.

摘要： This invention provides oilfield spooled coiled tubing production and completion strings assembled at the surface to include sensors and one or more controlled devices which can be tested from a remote location. The devices may have upsets in the coiled tubing. The strings preferably include conductors and hydraulic lines in the coiled tubing. The conductors provide power and data communication between the sensors, devices and surface instrumentation. The coiled tubing strings are preferably tested at the assembly site and transported to the well site one reels. The coiled tubing strings are inserted and retrieved from the wellbores utilizing an adjustable opening injector head system. This invention also provides method of making electro-coiled-tubing wherein upper and lower adapters are connected to the coiled tubing and tested prior to transporting the string to the wellbore. The string preferably includes pressure barriers at both ends of the string. The string also includes a power line, hydraulic lines, data and communication lines and the desired sensors and devices for use with an electrical submersible pump.

摘要： An electrical line for installation in a well for transmitting power to a well pump includes a string of coiled tubing. An electrical cable having insulated electrical conductors embedded within an elastomeric jacket extends longitudinally through the interior passage of the tubing. Retainers are mounted to the electrical cable and spaced longitudinally apart from each other. An indentation is integrally formed in the tubing adjacent each of the retainers. Each indentation protrudes into the interior passage of the tubing and creates a ledge which is contacted by one of the retainers when the electrical line is installed in the well. The indentations and retainers transfer weight of the electrical cable to the tubing. Weld material is filled into the depression on the surface created by each indentation.

摘要： An electrical cable and a method for manufacturing the electrical cable are provided in which a plurality of insulated conductors have a protective jacket extruded thereabout, the protective jacket having an exterior ribbed surface which includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs between which extend a plurality of thermal expansion voids. The protective jacket is formed from a thermally set elastomeric material which is partially cured, and then a protective exterior armor is helically wrapped around the exteriorly ribbed surface of the elastomeric, protective jacket. Then, the electric cable is heated to an elevated temperature for a period of time which is sufficient for fully curing the elastomeric protective jacket formed therein.

摘要： An electrical cable connector for connecting an electrical cable to an electric motor, especially in an oil well. The electrical cable connector includes a hollow cylindrical housing receiving a portion of the electrical cable therein and a sealing assembly for sealing the space between the cable and the housing to prevent the corrosive material in the oil well from eroding the electrical connection. The sealing assembly includes a disk rigidly coupled to the housing and a movable disk axially biased towards the other disk. A sealing plug is positioned between the two disks and comprises a substantially uncured flowable, incompressible seal material sandwiched between a pair of cured rubber sealing disks. The movable disk asserts pressure on the sealing plug so that the flowable material will flow into any otherwise empty spaces between the sealing disks and the cable and between the sealing disks and the housing.

摘要： A splice joins two pushing and pulling cables. Each cable has a plurality of gripping members defining a longitudinal cavity, a bendable power line housed in the cavity and elongated tensile elements enclosed and compressed by the gripping members. The adjacent ends of the tensile elements are connected by tensile element splices. Adjacent ends of the power lines are connected by a power line splice. A plurality of splice blocks are located end to end along the longitudinal axis, and enclose and compress the tensile element splices and the tensile element. The splice blocks define a longitudinally extending chamber housing the power line and the power line splice in a relatively stress free state.

摘要： An electrical submersible pump assembly has a motor cooperatively engaged with a pump for driving the pump and a motor lead extending to the motor for supplying power to the motor. The motor lead has an electrical conductor enclosed within a tube. The tube is sealed from an exterior environment of the motor and contains a dielectric fluid. The motor may be filled with a dielectric lubricant and the interior of the tube of the motor lead may be in fluid communication with the dielectric lubricant. Alternatively, the motor may filled with a dielectric lubricant and the dielectric fluid within the interior of the tube of the motor lead may be sealed from the dielectric lubricant.

摘要： A cable for transmitting high voltage electricity for use with an electric submersible pump has a plurality of solid conductors for conducting electricity along the length of the cable. The solid conductors are uniformly and firmly bonded to the surrounding insulation with a thin bonding layer applied directly over the conductor. A layer of conductive fabric tape surrounds the insulation to form an outer stress control layer. The insulated conductors are surrounded by an extruded layer of lead. A second layer of fabric tape surrounds the lead. An armored outer layer surrounds the insulated conductors and the lead. Space between the insulated and wrapped conductors and the armored outer layer is filled with a jacket material.

摘要： A siding tool is used to position overlapping siding planks. The tool has an elongated member with a hook on an upper end that fits over an upper edge of a first plank. A support is carried by the elongated member for supporting the lower edge of a second plank that overlaps the first plank. The elongated member and the hook are upwardly movable from the engaged position. The hook is rotatable to a disengaged position once moved above the upper edge of the first plank. The disengaged position allows the tool to be withdrawn by pulling downward.
