    摘要: An armored electrical cable which is especially useful in oil wells and provides resistance to corrosion, explosive decompression and transverse compressive forces. The cable comprises an insulated conductor, a barrier layer enclosing the insulation, a filler layer enclosing the barrier layer, and a square compression-resistant layer enclosing the filler layer. The barrier layer is a lead sheath having a closed cross section with an exterior including four right angle corners oriented in a square and four convex areas, each interconnecting a pair of adjacent right angle corners. The filler layer comprises a thermosetting tape, an open-mesh fabric tape, and a polymeric tape of low frictional coefficient.

    摘要: An elongated cable structure of rigid and flat transverse cross-section for protecting conduits of various types includes interior axial lines of high tensile strength which may be used to suspend equipment from one cable end and to force the equipment axially past obstructions in a well hole.     摘要: An elongated, reinforced power cable for use in adverse environments. The cable is provided with internal structural members to resist crushing and other mechanical forces. The cable includes at least two power conductor assemblies which extend along the longitudinal axis of the cable. A protective metallic layer is provided for each conductor assembly and completely encases each conductor assembly. The conductor assemblies and protective metallic layers are aligned in a row within the cable, the row having a left end, a right end, a top plane and a bottom plane. A rigid support member is positioned at each end of the row of conductor assemblies. The support members have a height at least equal to the height of the protective layers to prevent compression of the protective layers and conductor assemblies. An armored covering is provided which fully encloses the support members, the protective layers and the conductor assemblies. The row has portions of the top and bottom planes which are not covered by a rigid support member. The protective metallic layers may have either a square cross section or a generally square cross section with chamfered edges.

    摘要: A splice joins two pushing and pulling cables. Each cable has a plurality of gripping members defining a longitudinal cavity, a bendable power line housed in the cavity and elongated tensile elements enclosed and compressed by the gripping members. The adjacent ends of the tensile elements are connected by tensile element splices. Adjacent ends of the power lines are connected by a power line splice. A plurality of splice blocks are located end to end along the longitudinal axis, and enclose and compress the tensile element splices and the tensile element. The splice blocks define a longitudinally extending chamber housing the power line and the power line splice in a relatively stress free state.

The projecting member is coupled to and movable relative to the jaws via a threaded connection, a bayonet connection, or a cam and cam follower connection.

The enclosure is formed of electrically insulating material and has an interior chamber for housing the terminals and additionally has at least one moveable wall portion connected to the remainder of the enclosure by an integral web hinge. The moveable wall portion pivots on the hinge to an open position which provides access to the interior chamber of the enclosure. A number of interengaging locking members are integrally formed with the moveable wall and the remainder of the enclosure and engage one another when the moveable wall portion is closed to relieve stress on the hinge when assembling and using the enclosure and to provide safety even if the web hinge is weakened or fails. The unitary molded enclosure may have two such moveable walls, each with its own web hinge and interengaging locking members.

    摘要: An electrical connector inlet assembly with a break-away mechanism coupled to an electric vehicle for receiving electrical energy. The break-away mechanism disconnects the contacts of the inlet assembly or receptacle from the contacts of the plug to prevent damage of the electrical connector assembly, upon application of a highly excessive force pulling the plug away from the receptacle prior to disengagement of the contacts. The electrical connector inlet assembly receives an electrical connector or plug with electrical contacts for mating with the electrical contacts of the electrical inlet assembly or receptacle. The plug has a cover for selectively covering and uncovering its electrical contacts to prevent inadvertent contact with the electrical contacts and to protect the electrical contacts from the environment. Likewise, the receptacle has a cover for selectively covering and uncovering its electrical contacts to prevent inadvertent contact with the electrical contacts and to protect the electrical contacts from the environment. In the preferred embodiment, the covers of the plug and receptacle are either automatically or manually uncovered only after full insertion of the plug into the receptacle. The plug can be inserted into the receptacle with little or no force by the user since the contacts of the plug and receptacle are not electrically coupled together until after full insertion of the plug into the receptacle.
