In one embodiment, the pocket brake comprises a pivotable flange defining a pivot axis, at least one support element disposed on the flange, a braking element disposed on the at least one support element for decreasing a velocity of an item entering the selected pocket along the sort path, and a registration surface for stopping translation of the item along the sort path.

摘要： A system and method for separating batches of mail in a mailpiece sorter. The system employs a card stock interposed between batches of mail, which card stock includes a ferromagnetic symbology disposed on a face surface of the card stock. An inductive proximity detector is employed to scan the ferromagnetic symbology and produce a ferromagnetic signature signal indicative of the ferromagnetic parameters of the symbology. The system conveys batches of mail containing the card stock past the inductive proximity detector such that the signature signals may be read and compared to predefined ferromagnetic signature signals stored in a signal processor. The processor may then determine the beginning and/or ending of a mailpiece job run for use by the mailpiece sorter.

摘要： A system for processing and encoding mail including a bin configured to hold mail and a transport coupled to said bin to receive mail therefrom. The transport displays multiple moving pieces of mail to an operator. The system includes a data entry device operable to enter data from mail moving on the transport and a coding device to receive mail from the conveyor. A controller is operatively coupled to the transport, data entry device, and coding device. The controller includes an address signal corresponding to at least a portion of an address of a mail piece entered with the data entry device by the operator, a routing code signal determined in accordance with the address signal, a performance signal corresponding to data entry capability of the operator, and a transport speed signal corresponding to speed of the transport. The controller adjusts speed of the conveyor as a function of the performance signal and the conveyor speed signal, and the coding device places a routing code on the mail piece in response to the routing code signal.

摘要： A backing plate support system is provided for a mailpiece feeder mechanism wherein mailpieces are conveyed vertically, on-edge along a transport deck to a transfer station for subsequent sortation and delivery. The backing plate support system includes a guide track disposed along and adjacent to the transport deck and a plurality of backing plates each having a guide support fitting at its base. The guide support fitting engages the guide track and supports the backing plate in an orthogonal position relative to the transport deck. The backing plate support system, furthermore, includes an advancing belt disposed adjacent the guide track and adapted to be driven linearly along the transport deck and a mechanism for coupling each backing plate to the advancing belt. The mechanism facilitates relative movement of the backing support plate relative to the advancing belt in one direction while inhibiting relative motion thereof in an opposing direction. Furthermore, the mechanism facilitates optimum spacing between pairs of backing plates when mailpieces are stacked therebetween by a system operator. In one embodiment of the invention, a controller is operable to preposition each of the backing plates such that the operator may stack mailpieces against one backing plate and, on the command of the operator, introduce a second backing plate to support any thickness of stacked mailpieces.

The body (12) of the container (10) defines a reservoir (14) with cosmetics therein and further defines a passage (24) from the reservoir (14) and container (10). A resilient wiper (16) is mounted adjacent to the passage (24). A cosmetics applicator (18) is slidably supported within the reservoir (14) for movement from a loading position to a use position extending through the passage (24). A drive assembly including a knob (26) on the exterior of the container (10) adapted for one hand manipulation slides a drive belt (22) having one end connected to the applicator (18) in the reservoir (14) and the other end connected to a cover (23). Operation of the knob (26) in a first direction simultaneously withdraws the cover (23) and propels the applicator (18) from the reservoir (14). An umbrella pump (30) is mounted with the application (18) and lifts cosmetics to a loading zone adjacent the wiper (16), and carries cosmetics from the walls of the container (10) to a pump zone lower end of the container (10).

The tank is constructed and arranged to be removably connected with the docking assembly, and enables the pressurized flow of breathable gas to pass therethrough. The tank is also adapted to contain a liquid such that a humidity level of the pressurized flow of breathable gas is elevated as the pressurized flow of breathable gas passes therethrough.

摘要： A sorter system includes a first conveyor for transporting items to designated containers, a second conveyor for transporting containers containing the items, and a shuttle unit. The shuttle unit may include a base defining a loading area proximate to the first conveyor and a staging area proximate to the second conveyor and a tray disposed on the base for receiving containers on a first section and a second section. The tray may be movable between a first position in which the first section is in the loading area and a second position in which the first section is in the staging area. The shuttle unit may further include a transport device for selectively moving a container on the first section of the tray from the staging area onto the second conveyor.

摘要： A window having a window panel that slides in a frame and at least one balancer that is secured to the window panel is disclosed. The window is of the tiltable hung type having a vertical operating position in which the balancer slides with the window panel in the frame and a tilted position in which the balancer remains secured to the window panel. The balancer includes an extensible member having a first end operatively coupled to the balancer and a second end operatively coupled to a frame so that the balancer can exert a force on the window panel to assist against the force of gravity when the window panel is in the vertical operating position. A method of constructing a tiltable hung window with a balancer secured to the window panel is also disclosed.
