摘要:
The invention concerns a method for making continuous coextruded intermingled glass filaments and continuous thermoplastic organic filaments that enable non-spinnable compounds to be incorporated at the thermoplastic filaments. The invention is characterized in that the thermoplastic filaments are obtained by coextrusion of a thermoplastic material acting as core and a thermoplastic material containing at least one non-spinnable compound. The invention also concerns a device for implementing the method. The resulting composite yarn is provided with specific core properties provided by the non-spinnable compounds.

The invention relates to a process and a device for manufacturing a composite strand formed by combining continuous glass filaments with continuous high-shrinkage organic thermoplastic filaments.According to the invention, the thermoplastic filaments are mingled in the form of a web (10) with a bundle or a web (2) of glass filaments after having been drawn, heated then projected onto a moving support (17) with a speed, during their projection onto the support, greater than the running speed of said support. It also relates to a suitable device for carrying out the aforementioned process.

The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing a composite thread formed of a plurality of filaments combined with a thermoplastic organic material, which consists in mechanically entraining a thread in a device mounted in the manner of a cross head at the end of an extruder and injecting the material in the direction of the thread and concentrically thereto at a constant maximum radial pressure of less than 50 bars.

The subject of the invention is a device for manufacturing a composite yarn formed by the combination of continuous glass filaments and continuous filaments of a thermoplastic organic substance, comprising, on the one hand, at least one bushing which is fed with glass, the lower face of which is provided with a multiplicity of orifices from which a multiplicity of glass filaments is drawn, and is associated with a coating device and, on the other hand, at least one extrusion head fed with a molten thermoplastic organic substance, the lower face of which is provided with a multiplicity of orifices from which a multiplicity of organic filaments is drawn, the said head being associated with a drawing device comprising at least two drums and with a venturi device which projects the organic filaments into the sheet formed by the glass filaments, and means, common to the bushing and to the extrusion head, which enable the composite yarn to be assembled and drawn, for example by a winding device such as a bobbin winder provided with spindles, in which an optical device for detecting the sheet of thermoplastic filaments running through a defined region is arranged between the drum-type drawing device and the venturi device, the said optical device being connected to a circuit which controls the speed of rotation of at least one of the drums.

The thermo-bonding interlining is a nonwoven covered on one face with dots of thermo-bonding resin. According to the invention, the nonwoven is a web, containing no binder or thermo-fusible fibers, whose weight per square meter is between 50 and 150 g, and which is produced from filaments in a thermoplastic material, such as polyester; the mean diameter of the filaments is between 3 and 5 .mu.m, and preferably 90% of the filaments have a diameter comprised between that range; intermingling of the filaments is obtained by streams of high pressure fluid, such as streams of water at pressures of 40 to 80 bars.

A process for manufacturing composite sheets includes steps of: continuously depositing a web of yarns, in the form of a mat of continuous yarns, a woven, a knit or an assembly of continuous non-interlaced yarns on a moving substrate; depositing a powder of an organic material capable of forming a coating layer under the action of heat on at least one side of said web; heating the web coated with the powder to a temperature sufficient to melt the powder; compressing and cooling the web so as to form a composite strip; and cutting the strip in the form of sheets or winding the strip up on a rotating support.

The invention relates to the manufacture of composite sheets having a multiaxial fibrous reinforcement, which involves: forming a unidirectional lap of reinforcing threads, at least 50% by weight of which are co-blended threads consisting of reinforcing filaments and of filaments of an organic material which are intimately mixed, giving the said lap a cohesion allowing it to be lapped, lapping this lap on a support in movement, in a transverse direction in relation to the direction of movement, heating the reinforcing-thread/organic-material assembly, which is displaced in the direction of movement, and setting it by the action of heat, if appropriate by applying pressure, then cooling it to form a composite band, and collecting the said band in the form of one or more composite sheets. The present invention also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method and to the products obtained.

A deformable mat of at least one web including at least one reinforcing substance and at least one thermoplastic substance, these substances being in a form of chopped yarns and/or continuous yarns, and the yarns being bonded together so that the mat has an elongation at break in all directions of at least 50% and preferably varying from 100 to 150%. A process for manufacturing the deformable mat forms a web of the yarns, treats the web under conditions allowing the yarns to be moderately bonded, and collects the mat obtained. The mat can be used for manufacturing composite parts by vacuum molding or compression molding.
