    摘要: A system and a method of fabricating a complex three dimensional part are described. The system comprises a rapid prototyping machine configured to provide a disposable mold having a negative imprint of a complex three dimensional structure, a mixer, an injection molding machine, and a furnace system. A slurry comprising a powder and a binder is introduced into the disposable mold, the binder is cured, the disposable mold is removed, and the binder is removed, leaving an intact cured structure. The cured structure is sintered to fabricate the complex three dimensional part.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a method comprising injecting into a thin wall disposable core die a slurry having a viscosity of about 1 to about 1,000 Pascal-seconds at room temperature when tested at a shear rate of up to 70 seconds−1 and a flow index of less than 0.6 at a pressure of up to about 7 kilograms-force per square centimeter; wherein the thin wall disposable core die has an average wall thickness of about 1.5 to about 10 millimeters; curing the slurry to form a cured ceramic core; removing the thin wall disposable core die from the cured ceramic core; and firing the cured ceramic core to form a solidified ceramic core.

    摘要: An electrode having a dielectric coating is patterned to provide axially spaced rows of insulating material on the external surface of the electrode with one or more gaps in the insulating material of each row. The electrode is placed in a preformed hole of a turbine bucket and an electrolyte is provided for flow between the electrode and the walls of the hole. Upon application of an electrical current, portions of the material of the interior wall surface directly opposite the non-insulated portions of the electrode are dissolved, forming grooves. The insulated portions of the electrode leave axially spaced rows of projections extending toward the axis of the hole. The gaps in the rows or projections are axially misaligned. The projections form turbulators in the cooling flow passages of the bucket, enhancing the heat transfer coefficient.

    摘要: The present invention discloses a method for designing a profile extrusion die plate. In the present invention, a representation of a product made from a resin material and shaped by a die is provided. The representation illustrates a relationship between die swell of the resin, shear rate of the resin through the die, and the ratio of die land length of the die to die opening thickness of the die. From the representation, instances where the ratio of die land length to die opening thickness minimizes die swell of the resin is determined. Experimental data of the resin shaped by an experimental die is then obtained. The experimental data includes draw speed, shear rate, and die swell. The representation and the experimental data are then arranged into die design charts for die opening thickness and die opening width. The die design charts are then used to determine profile dimensions of a desired profile extrusion die.

    摘要: A method for controlling process conditions in a continuous skull nozzle process is provided wherein one or more process parameters are controlled to maintain the operation of the process within a process window derived using integral solutions and expressed in terms of dimensionless parameters. The process window defines a range of values for the controllable process parameters within which a steady state solidified skull will be maintained and outside of which a steady state solidified skull will not be maintained. A pressure differential between the inside of a crucible holding the melt and outside of the crucible is one process parameter which is controlled to adjust the melt discharge flow rate to maintain operation within the process window.
