摘要: An electrostatic actuator for a contact probe storage device has a first electrode; a second electrode supported in a predetermined spaced essentially parallel relationship with the first electrode by resilient members; and a probe configured to engage a medium in which data indicative topographical features are formed, the probe being mounted on the second electrode so as to extend away from the first electrode, one of the first and second electrodes being configured to have a voltage selectively applied thereto to attract the first and second electrodes toward one another and move the probe away from the medium.

摘要: A chemical/biological wastewater treatment plant apparatus and treatment method employing rapid sludge chemical dewatering technology in conjunction with an environmental biological system for treating the separated treated wastewater by land applying it for the propagation of biosynthetic fuels and other plants; and/or passing it through aqueous plant or microbial reduction of the dissolved solids and ammonia for BOD compliance to produce water of sufficient quality to reduce the overall salt load currently being added by wastewater treatment facilities into natural waterways, and to produce water of sufficient quality to meet open stream and ocean effluent discharge requirements; and disposing of the high BTU low moisture solids.

摘要: The invention makes it easier for the post office to calculate accurately terminal dues by providing information to the post regarding each piece or parcel of mail that crosses an international border. The invention also makes it easier for the post offices to calculate terminal dues by obtaining fee information from mail that is sent internationally. The foregoing is accomplished by placing an indication on the mail that the fees for delivering the mail have been paid or will be paid by a mailer who has an account with the post office; sorting the mail to find international mail; storing the fees that have been paid or will be paid for international mail; reporting the fees that have been paid for international mail to all participating post offices; and calculating the fees that are to be transferred to participating post offices.

摘要: Electroporation is used to enhance the wound-healing benefit provided by transfection of nucleic acids that encode cellular growth factors. Wounds which are amenable to the method include inter alia cutaneous lesions, muscular lesions, osseus lesions, burn wounds, and gastrointestinal anastamoses. Kits comprise electrodes and nucleic acids encoding cellular growth factors.

摘要: A spray apparatus adapted to be connected to a fluid supply such as a syringe to spray a predetermined pattern of spray fluid to a target area such as the tissues of an animal or human. The sprayer delivers a predetermined dose of a medicament, vaccine or the like to the nasal or other cavity of an animal or human patient. The sprayer includes a base member and a cap member which is connected to the base member. The base member is connectible to the fluid supply. Spray is discharged from the distal or outward end of the cap member. The base member has a central, longitudinal lumen having a predetermined configuration. Fluid traverses the lumen and is discharged through a central aperture of the cap, which also has a predetermined configuration. The cap central lumen and spray discharge aperture are aligned with the base lumen.

摘要: A method to create a net increase in soil organic carbon (SOC) by acidifying land applied waters with pH adjusted sulfur dioxide to open up soil pores at greater depths, while providing sulfur and other nutrients to plants and soil bacteria to stimulate and increase their overall grow and their assimilation of carbon dioxide to sequester a greater net volume increase of soil organic carbon (SOC).
