摘要: The properties of articles fabricated from foamed metals (such as foamed aluminum) are enhanced by coating surfaces thereof with plastic materials, e.g., acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene polymers. For example, the plastic coating improves the physical properties, and enables the article to be joined to another foamed metal article, or to a metal sheet, wire, glass, rock, or other material. The organic coat gives improved strength to such joint.

摘要: Certain alkali metal and alkaline earth metal fluorides and finely divided beryllium metal are effective as secondary crystallization additives to lithium-doped beryllium hydride. They induce crystallization at relatively low pressures in relatively short times. The beryllium metal can be introduced by controlled overpyrolysis of beryllium alkyl in the standard solution pyrolysis process for preparing beryllium hydride.

摘要: A novel vessel and an improved method of casting batch liquid materials which solidify on cooling or standing utilizing said vessel; the method is especially advantageous for casting foamed metals whereby a composition containing molten metal and a suitable foaming agent is prepared in one or more upright, openended vessels provided with suitable gaskets and seated against the bottom of a mold. When the composition is ready to be cast, the vessels are vertically separated from the mold bottom so that only the lower ends of the vessels contact the composition as it quietly flows into the mold.
