    摘要: Embodiments of the invention provide dry gaseous fluid pump apparatus comprising: a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet; at least one pump body having an internal wall defining an internal pump chamber thereof; a compression member provided within the pump chamber; and valve means being operable selectively to allow fluid to be drawn from the fluid inlet and into the pump chamber when at least a portion of the compression member is translated in a first direction and to be exhausted from the pump chamber through the fluid outlet when said at least a portion of the compression member is translated in a second direction opposite the first, the valve means being arranged to be actuated by actuator means under the control of control means to perform at least one selected from amongst the functions of allowing fluid to be drawn from the fluid inlet into the pump chamber and allowing fluid to be exhausted from the pump chamber through the fluid outlet, the apparatus comprising a linear drive assembly operable to drive the at least a portion of the compression member to and fro within the pump chamber.

    摘要: A multistage vacuum pump is achieved by utilizing a single piston and cylinder assembly having opposite end portions with substantially equal diameters and an enlarged diameter central portion. One end of the cylinder is closed by a valve and a first stage pumping chamber is defined between the valve and the piston. The enlarged diameter portion of the piston has an axial extent less than the axial extent of the enlarged diameter portion of the cylinder to define second and third stage pumping chambers on opposite sides of the enlarged diameter portion of the piston. The three pumping chambers are interconnected by passage means to an inlet and outlet to provide a sequential reduction in pressure. A single drive unit may be connected to a plurality of pumping units for reciprocating the piston in each pumping unit.

    摘要: Vacuum pump of reciprocating piston and cylinder type. Cylinder is stepped to have front large diameter portion and rear small diameter portion. Piston has enlarged head portion sliding in front portion of cylinder and rear portion sliding in rear portion of cylinder. Front end of cylinder is closed to form high vacuum pumping chamber swept by front face of piston head. Gas enters the high vacuum pumping chamber through side wall of cylinder and can be exhausted through exhaust valve in closed front end of cylinder. Rear annular face of piston head sweeps lower vacuum chamber in cylinder behind the piston head. A gas transfer passage extends through cylinder wall from front end of high vacuum pumping chamber to port in cylinder wall so as to transfer gas from high vacuum chamber to lower vacuum chamber when piston approaches end of forward stroke. Gas is transferred through transfer duct at pressures lower than required to open the exhaust valve.Also claimed are specific forms of piston ring permitting lubrication-free operation of piston in the cylinder.

    摘要: A vacuum pump includes two pairs of piston and cylinder assemblies mounted on opposite sides of a crankshaft in a common plane with the gas inlets for the first and second cylinders of a first pair of piston and cylinder assemblies being connected to the device to be evacuated and the gas outlets thereof being connected to a common outlet having a spring biased one-way valve controlling the outlet and to a passage connected to the inlet of a third cylinder in said second pair of piston and cylinder assemblies. The gas outlet of the third cylinder is connected to the inlet of the fourth cylinder and the gas outlet of the fourth cylinder is connected to the common outlet through spring biased one-way valves. Each cylinder is provided with a cylinder head having a pair of one-way valves controlling inlet and outlet ports wherein the one-way valve controlling the gas inlet port acts as a torque reduction valve to reduce the amount of torque necessary to move the piston away from the cylinder head on the initial stroke of the piston. Each cylinder is provided with a liner in the form of a sleeve having an hard wear resistant oxide coating thereon and each piston is provided with a coating of filled polytetrafluorethylene for the purpose of reducing friction.

    摘要: Each NMR rotor bearing in an NMR magic angle spinning assembly is constructed of a porous ceramic material and has no inlet channels or nozzles. Instead, pressurized gas is forced through pores in the bearing ceramic material from an annular groove at the bearing periphery to the central aperture. Since the pores are small and very numerous, the gas pressure is effectively balanced around the periphery of the central aperture. In addition, if contaminants block one or more pores during operation, the pores are so numerous that the balanced pressure can still be maintained in the central aperture, thereby preventing an imbalance that could destroy the rotor.

    摘要: A closed container having a single opening is sealed by a plug fabricated from a self-sealing elastomer. Before insertion, the plug is transfixed with a tube to allow air to escape as the plug is pushed into the container. The plug and tube are then inserted into a container. After the plug has been seated in the container, the tube is withdrawn, allowing the self-sealing elastomeric material to close the canal formed by the tube and to form a hermetic seal.
