摘要： Disclosed is an ethylene glycol based deicing/anti-icing composition which contains a thickener comprising a polyacrylic acid having a molecular weight of from about 90,000 to 100,000 and a wetting agent from the group consisting of nonylphenol ethoxylates, alkarylsulfonates, polyoxyethylene phosphates and tetrafunctional block copolymers of EO/PO on an ethylene diamine backbone and demonstrates improvement in anti-icing ability as measured by holdover time while not adversely effecting aerodynamic performance or Newtonian rheology of the deicer measured by passing the minimum requirements of the AMS test for Type I fluids.

摘要： Novel compounds made from the reaction of 5-vinyl-2-norbornene with carboxylic acid anhydrides in the presence of oxygen are described. The process to make these novel esters is preferably conducted at a temperature in the range from about 50.degree. to 150.degree. C. and in the presence of a catalyst. A transition metal borate catalyst is preferred. Such ester compounds are potentially useful plasticizers, lubricants, solvents and fuel additives.

摘要： Water soluble thickeners made by alkoxylating monohydric alcohol hydrophobes are described. The monohydric alcohol should have at least 18 carbon atoms to be properly hydrophobic. In addition, a large proportion of ethylene oxide must be added, such that the molar ratio of ethylene oxide to monohydric alcohol hydrophobe is at least 40:1. Improved results are obtained if 8-15 moles of propylene oxide are added as a block to the single mole of hydrophobe first. The alkoxylations are necessary to provide the desired viscosities and hydrophilic nature. These thickeners are particularly useful in the glycol-water based fluids of this invention.
