    摘要： An image analysis unit analyses information appended to an image and calculates the image capture time for each of the images. A time difference calculating unit calculates the image capture time difference between images arranged by an image managing unit by referring to the image capture time for each of the images calculated by the image analysis unit. A user instruction information managing unit sets a threshold that is used in the selection of images to be displayed in one screen and that serves as a determination reference for time differences based on input information of the user. The display determination unit compares an image capture time difference calculated by the time difference calculating unit and a threshold set by the user instruction information managing unit, and selects the images that satisfy this threshold as images to be display in the screen. A display processing unit displays thumbnails of images selected by the display determining unit in an index display in one screen in an image capture time sequence.

Upon detection of an alteration of the resolution, the format detector (112) selects one of a plurality of supplemental video pictures, which are prepared in advance in a memory (113), in accordance with the degree of decrease of the resolution after the alteration to that before the alteration. An image composition unit (106) controls a display unit (110) to display the supplemental video picture together with a video associated with the video content via a video display unit (108). Even when the resolution decreases considerably, a decrease in user's convenience can be suppressed.

To this end, detailed program information associated with each of programs to be displayed on an EPG is acquired from an antenna (1101) and tuner (1102). The acquired program information is stored in a memory (1150) via a decoder (1103). A viewer designates programs, details of which are to be displayed, using a remote controller (12), and the memory (1150) is searched for detailed program information of a plurality of designated programs. An image controller (1121) simultaneously displays a plurality of pieces of program information associated with these designated programs at their display positions on the EPG displayed on a display unit (1122).
