摘要: A control system for operating locomotives in a train may include a first lead communication unit located on-board a lead locomotive of a lead consist in the train, an off-board remote controller interface, and a second lead communication unit located on-board a lead locomotive of a trailing consist in the train. The first lead communication unit may be configured to transmit locomotive control commands from the lead locomotive of the lead consist off-board to the off-board remote controller interface. The second lead communication unit located on-board the lead locomotive of the trailing consist in the train may be configured to receive control command signals from the off-board remote controller interface, with the control command signals corresponding to the locomotive control commands transmitted from the lead locomotive of the lead consist.

摘要: An automatic train operation system is presented for use with a train to automatically operate the train. The automatic train operation system is housed on a tender car and connected to a second rail vehicle. The automatic train operation system is connected to the second rail vehicle through end connections. Additionally, the automatic train operation system communicates with the second rail vehicle through the end connections. The end connections are operable to transmit an operation signal between the automatic train operation system and the second rail vehicle. The second rail vehicle completes the operation signal base on an executable command contained within the operation signal and sent from the automatic train operation system.

摘要: A system for monitoring operation of a locomotive includes a plurality of cameras, a controller, and at least one graphical user interface (GUI). The cameras are strategically mounted to the locomotive such that each camera is configured to capture a video stream of an environment associated with the locomotive. The controller is remotely disposed from and communicably coupled to each of the cameras over a wireless network. The controller is configured to receive a plurality of video streams from the plurality of cameras. The graphical user interface (GUI) is communicably coupled to the controller. The GUI is configured to display the plurality of video streams received at the controller. In embodiments disclosed herein, the controller is operable for modulating various operating parameters of the locomotive based on the environment associated with the locomotive, as determined from one or more video streams transmitted by the cameras.

The control system may comprise a plurality of access control devices for the locomotive, with each access control device including a status indicator, and being configured to activate or deactivate the status indicator based on user input received by any of the plurality of access control devices. Each access control device may also be configured to transmit status data indicative of a status of the locomotive to a locomotive controller, with the status either being a blue flag status or a ready status, wherein at least one of the access control devices is a mobile device not mounted to the locomotive.

摘要: A system for pacing a train having a plurality of locomotives is disclosed. The system may include an signaling system onboard component configured to receive a signal indicative of a requested time of arrival (RTA) of the train, a locomotive health system configured to output one or more health signals indicative of a health status of each of the plurality of locomotives, and an energy management system in electronic communication with the signaling system onboard component and the locomotive health system. The energy management system may be configured to generate driving command signals based on the RTA and the one or more health signals, generate an RTA confirmation signal based on the one or more health signals, the RTA confirmation signal being indicative of whether the train will achieve the RTA, and communicate the RTA confirmation signal to a train signaling system via the signaling system onboard component.

The locomotive includes a car body, including an operator cabin, a power source, and an operator health monitor within the operator cabin, the operator health monitor configured to monitor at least one health condition associated with the operator and configured to generate an operator health signal associated with the at least one condition. The locomotive includes an operator warning system within the operator cabin, configured to present the operator with an operator warning in response to an operator warning signal, and an electronic controller. The electronic controller may be configured to determine an operator fatigue score based on, at least, the operator health signal, determine if the operator fatigue score exceeds a warning threshold, and transmit the operator warning signal to the operator warning system if the operator fatigue score exceeds the warning threshold.

摘要: A detection system for a locomotive may include a plurality of sensors. An electronic control module may be in communication with, at least, the plurality of sensors and the locomotive. The control module may be configured to: monitor the plurality of sensors; receive an alert from one of the sensors of the plurality of sensors when one of the corresponding sensors is triggered; determine if the alert is a security concern; and operatively respond to the security concern by at least one of removing tractive effort to the locomotive, apply braking force to the locomotive, locking a door of the locomotive, locking a window of the locomotive, and transmitting a notification.
