    Abstract: Provided are a reflective sheet including a cholesteric liquid crystal layer and having excellent reflection wavelength range, diffuse reflectivity, reflectivity, hardness, and scratch resistance; and a transfer film for a reflective sheet that is used for the reflective sheet. The reflective sheet includes a substrate, an adhesive layer, a cholesteric liquid crystal layer, and a hard coat layer in this order, in which in a cross-section of the cholesteric liquid crystal layer observed, at least a part of bright portions and dark portions has a flapping structure, the cholesteric liquid crystal layer has a pitch gradient structure in which a helical pitch changes in a thickness direction, and the helical pitch on the adhesive layer side is larger than that on the hard coat layer side.

    Abstract: A liquid-crystal display device having a backlight unit emitting unpolarized blue light, a light conversion member, a polarization separating member, a backlight-side polarizer, a liquid crystal cell, and a display-side polarizing plate wherein the polarization separating member separates the unpolarized blue light into blue transmitted light and blue reflected light which are linearly polarized in vibration directions that are orthogonal to each other, and transmits some of light in a wavelength range each of 500 nm to 600 nm and 600 nm to 650 nm, the light conversion member includes a fluorescent material that, due to blue light entering the light conversion member, emits green light which is linearly-polarized light and red light which is linearly-polarized light; and a transmission axis of the backlight-side polarizer is parallel to vibration directions of the green and red light, is improved in terms of front surface luminance and color reproduction region.

    Abstract: Provided is a reflective sheet that includes a reflective layer having a wide reflection wavelength range, excellent diffusion reflection properties, and inconspicuous defects. The reflective sheet includes a plurality of reflective layers that are laminated, the reflective layers being obtained by immobilizing a cholesteric liquid crystalline phase, in a cross-section of the reflective layer observed with a scanning electron microscope, at least a part of bright portions and dark portions derived from the cholesteric liquid crystalline phase has a flapping structure, a helical pitch in one or more reflective layers changes in a thickness direction, and a thickness of a reflective layer that is formed on a surface other than a surface of the reflective layer is less than those of other reflective layers.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel including at least a liquid crystal cell and a polarizing plate; and a backlight including at least a light source, in which the polarizing plate includes a polarizer and at least one sheet of protective film, the protective film included in the polarizing plate is positioned closest to the backlight side in the liquid crystal panel, and the protective film positioned closest to the backlight side in the liquid crystal panel is an organic solvent-soluble resin film in which an apparent shear strength measured at a surface on the backlight side is 106 MPa or greater and an apparent shear strength measured at a surface on the polarizer side is 101 MPa or less.
