Abstract: A system may be provided that may include an integrated motor drive configured to couple to a motor. The integrated motor drive may include a first converter that may be configured to electrically couple with a winding assembly of the motor. The first converter may include at least first conversion circuitry configured to form a first electrical excitation waveform and second conversion circuitry coupled in parallel to the second conversion circuitry and configured to form a second electrical excitation waveform. The first converter may also include a first transformer configured to form a first summation electrical excitation waveform from the first electrical excitation waveform and the second electrical excitation waveform that drives the motor.

Abstract: A method for operating a phase-leg of a three-level active neutral point clamped (3L-ANPC) converter is presented. The phase-leg includes an output terminal, a plurality of input terminals, and a plurality of switches disposed therebetween. The method includes operating the phase-leg in a neutral state to generate an output voltage having a neutral level. The method further includes transitioning the phase-leg to a first intermediate neutral state from the neutral state. Moreover, the method includes transitioning the phase-leg from the first intermediate neutral state to a first state to generate the output voltage having a first level. A modulator for operating the phase-leg of the 3L-ANPC converter is also presented. Moreover, a 3L-ANPC converter including the modulator is presented.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for detecting damage of a pitch bearing of a wind turbine. The pitch bearing is part of a pitch drive system having a plurality of pitch drive motors. The method includes measuring at least one electrical signal of the pitch drive system. The method also includes processing the electrical signal(s) of the pitch drive system and comparing the electrical signals of the pitch drive system with a baseline threshold. Thus, the method also includes determining whether damage is present in the pitch bearing based, at least in part, on the comparison, wherein the electrical signal(s) exceeding the baseline threshold is indicative of damage in the pitch bearing.

The response includes communicating an alert to personnel, controlling the voltage on the cable to be less than a voltage threshold, or any combination thereof.

Abstract: A system including a control system is provided. The control system includes a main drive that receives power from a power source and outputs a variable frequency and a variable amplitude AC voltage. The control system also includes a controller to interface with the main drive and an electric machine. The controller receives one or more electrical signals associated with an operating condition of the electric machine from one or more sensors disposed between the electric machine and the main drive. The controller determines correction information based on the received electrical signals and based on a desired operating condition of the electric machine. The controller transmits the correction information to the main drive. The correction information corresponds to a rotor position of the electric machine or operating commands configured to implement the desired operating condition of the electric machine.
