Abstract: A system for laterally moving an industrial machine is provided. The system includes a pair of rail elements configured to be positioned laterally below and support the industrial machine, the rail elements allowing the industrial machine to be moved laterally from a first operative position to a second, maintenance position; and a pair of linear actuators configured to laterally move the industrial machine as from the first, operative position to the second, maintenance position. The rail elements may include a first skid configured to couple laterally to an underside of the industrial machine at a first axial position; and a second skid configured to couple laterally to an underside of the industrial machine at a second axial position. First and second segmented support rails are positioned in sliding, aligned contact with the first and second skid, respectively, and are configured to be supported on a respective machine foundation.

Abstract: An approach for facilitating mechanical and electrical connection of electric machines and electrical components in an electrical system using connectors with quick connect/disconnect electrical connectors is disclosed. Each quick connect/disconnect electrical connector can be placed on the end of an electrical power distribution cable that connects with an electric machine or electrical component. Abstract: A retention assembly for retaining a plurality of elements in a stator slot of an electric machine is provided. The retention assembly may include a stator wedge fixedly positioned in a dovetail in the stator slot to retain the plurality of elements; a top ripple spring between the plurality of elements and the stator wedge; and at least one shim positioned between the stator wedge and a load bearing surface of the dovetail. A method may include compressing the stator wedge in the stator slot from a first position thereof relative to the dovetail of the stator slot, the compressing creating a gap between the stator wedge and the dovetail. A shim may be inserted in the gap; the compressing released such that the shim retains the stator wedge in a second position that is more compressed relative to the plurality of elements in the stator slot compared to the first position.

Abstract: A seal ring assembly includes a first seal ring axially disposed from a second seal ring. The first seal ring has an axial face opposing an axial face of the second seal ring. A radial oil channel is defined between the two axial faces. Both seal rings have a tapered surface configured to contact a spring. The spring biases the seal rings away from each other via the tapered surface. Both seal rings are disposed in a radially inwardly directed channel. At least one of the seal rings have a plurality of protrusions that extend beyond the axial face. The protrusions are configured to create a passageway to allow oil to flow through the passageway and to allow at least one of the seal rings to move into a desired position by reducing static friction between the axial faces.

Abstract: An electric component for an electric machine includes a body having slots defined therein, and a conductive winding extending out of axial end(s) of the slot(s). The electric component may include any electric machine component having conductive windings, e.g., a stator for a generator. The electric component includes a resin dam around the conductive winding at axial end(s) of the slot(s). The resin dam blocks liquid communication through at least a space between the conductive winding and an inner surface of the slot(s), during manufacture. The electric component also includes a (solidified) insulating resin in the slot(s) and against the resin dam(s) at the axial end(s) of the slot(s). Any number of the conductive windings and slots may include a resin dam, e.g., one, some or all. The resin dams ensure complete filling of the slots and encapsulation of the conductive windings.
