Abstract: Provided is a seal structure of a belt cover for an internal combustion engine having excellent sealability on the composite mating surfaces of an upper cover, a lower cover, and an inside cover constituting the belt cover. The seal structure of the belt cover for the internal combustion engine according to the present invention includes: an inside cover member disposed on a side of the body of the internal combustion engine; and an outside cover member disposed on a side opposite to the body of the internal combustion engine, and accommodating a timing belt TB in a liquid-tight state together with the inside cover member. The outside cover member is divided into an upper outside cover 4 and a lower outside cover 5. A first seal is formed between the upper outside cover 4 and the inside cover member. A second seal is formed between the upper outside cover 4 and the lower outside cover 5. At a boundary between the first seal and the second seal, a seating portion 36 on which a lower end 32a of a seal member 32 of the first seal is seated is formed by an end upper surface of a male portion 33 of the lower outside cover 5 and an end upper surface of a projecting portion 35 of the inside cover member flush with the end upper surface of the male portion 33.

A belt cover structure for an internal combustion engine includes an oil pump case OP and a lower cover 9 that cover a timing belt TB, and a side mount bracket 8 that is adjacent to an upper side of the lower cover 9 and is held by a cylinder block CB. Mating surfaces 96c and 86c that are aligned with each other are respectively formed on the lower cover 9 and the side mount bracket 8. A lower seal member 41 is disposed on the mating surface 96c, and the mating surface 86c is configured to cover the mating surface 96c from the outside. The lower cover 9 and the side mount bracket 8 are fixed in a state where the mating surface 86c of the side mount bracket 8 is pressed against the mating surface 96c of the lower cover 9 via the seal member 41.-

Abstract: The concept of the invention is based on a machine housing with a bearing housing, the bearing seat of which is connected to a housing wall of the machine housing by a bearing housing wall provided with ribs (42, 43) and is subjected to radially directed forces (11, 44). The proposal is made that the bearing housing wall possess at least one ring shaped annular rib (42) which at least partially encompasses the bearing seat in an area (21), the angle (α) of inclination of which, relative to its original unloaded condition, would change itself to the greatest extent under load (11). Further proposed is that a plurality of additional ribs (43) run transverse to the annular rib (42). Thereby, with a relatively small consumption of material, a good shape-retention is achieved. In addition, a tilting of the bearing seat and the bearing is held to a lesser extent than is the case of conventional bearing housing structures. By the use of shell shaped bearing housings, the bearing housing wall is characterized by a more intensive curvature in the more heavily stressed area (21) than is the case in the area (22) which lies diametrically (with respect to the bearing axis) opposite.
