    摘要: A system includes a vehicle, a vehicle communications platform (VCP), and an in-vehicle biometric system. The VCP is programmed to recognize a sequence of events. The sequence of events includes a transmission of the vehicle shifting from drive to park, an engine of the vehicle is on, and the transmission of the vehicle shifting back from park to drive. The VCP is further programmed to, in response to the sequence of events, monitor a distance that the vehicle travels or monitor a time since an occurrence of the sequence of events, and to instruct the in-vehicle biometric system to enter an authentication mode after a set time has passed since the occurrence of the sequence of events or after the vehicle has traveled a set distance since the occurrence of the sequence of events. The in-vehicle biometric system is responsive to instructions from the VCP and initiates an authentication routine.

    摘要: In an example of an ordering method, an application receives an order for a product. The application may be an in-vehicle application resident on a memory of an in-vehicle infotainment unit of a vehicle or a mobile-device application resident on a memory of a mobile device. Without contacting a merchant of the product, the application determines a preparation time for the product. The application dynamically determines an estimated time of arrival of the vehicle or the mobile device at a location of the merchant. The application holds the order for the product until the estimated time of arrival is equal to or less than the preparation time for the product.

    摘要: Implementations of the present invention contemplate using the communicative connections between a telematics unit in a vehicle and a telematics service provider (TSP) to transmit information pertaining to a vehicle charging event from the vehicle to the TSP. Implementations further contemplate comparing such with information independently furnished to the TSP by a charge station or a communication service associated with a charge station. The present invention facilitates the charging of electric vehicles at charging stations by reducing the inconvenience associated with paying for the electrical power obtained from the charging station. By transferring the billing functions to a TSP, implementations of the present invention also enable charging stations to do away with equipment required for billing customers at the point of sale and thereby limit the costs of building such charging stations.
