Abstract: The method of location-based charging for electric vehicles provides for secure charging of electric vehicles by applying various charging mechanisms depending on users' and suppliers' specific attributes. When an operator of an electric vehicle connects the electric vehicle to electric vehicle supply equipment, a message is securely received by the electric vehicle supply equipment, which includes a set of operator-specific parameters. Based on the set of operator-specific parameters, a secure notification is transmitted to an owner of the electric vehicle supply equipment requesting authorization for the operator to charge the electric vehicle. The applicable charging mechanism of the electric vehicle is applied based on the owner's authorization message transmitted to the electric vehicle supply equipment and the set of operator-specific parameters.

Abstract: An intelligent vehicle charging system for charging a fleet of autonomous vehicles throughout a network of charging stations dispersed throughout a geographic area. The intelligent vehicle charging system includes a remote control system that is in operative communication with each of the autonomous vehicles in the fleet and each of the charging stations in the network. When an autonomous vehicle is in need of a power charge, or as directed by the remote control system, the remote control system will identify an available charging station, guide the autonomous vehicle to the charging station, verify that the autonomous vehicle has arrived at the charging station, initiate the power charging process, account and bill appropriate fees for the charging process, and log all associated activity. The remote control system is also capable of remotely and instantaneously terminating the power charging process to dynamically return a vehicle back to service.

Abstract: The present application relates to the field of charging electrical apparatuses, and more particularly, to a charging authorization approach for objects to be recharged, an automatic authorization approach and system for charging apparatuses. The present application intends to solve the problem of complicate authentication procedure and poor user experience when a charging apparatus authenticates an electric vehicle in the prior art. The automatic authorization approach for charging apparatuses of the application comprises the following steps: plugging a charging gun of said charging apparatus into a charging port of an object to be recharged and hence activating a first authentication device; said first authentication device sending an authentication request information; a second authentication device receiving said authentication request information and matching it to a prestored valid authentication information; determining whether said charging apparatus should charge said object to be recharged based on the matching result. With the approach of the application, it only requires a user to plug the charging gun into the charging port of the electric vehicle, in order for the charging apparatus to automatically authenticate the electric vehicle, which makes the authentication procedure simpler, and no other authentication operations are required from the user, so that the charging experience of an electric vehicle user is considerably improved.

Abstract: Electric vehicle charging stations are coupled with a circuit sharing controller. Multiple electric vehicle charging stations are wired on the same electrical circuit. The circuit sharing controller implements a circuit sharing process that dynamically allocates electric current to charging stations on the same electrical circuit such that the capacity of the electrical circuit is not exceeded while permitting each of those charging stations to draw electric current through that electrical circuit for at least some amount of time.

Abstract: Implementations of the present invention contemplate utilizing a communicative infrastructure represented by a telematics unit of an electric vehicle and a telematics service provider (TSP) communicatively coupled to the telematics unit to control an amount of power reserved for a charging event of the vehicle. Specifically, the TSP utilizes information provided by the telematics unit, electrical power utilities, and electrical power metering devices to determine the characteristics of electrical energy available for charging the vehicle. The TSP can utilize the characteristics of the available energy along with additional information, such as charging preferences established by a subscriber of the TSP and vehicle use schedules, to determine an amount of power to reserve for the charging event. The amount of power reserved for the charging event may be determined based on cost, greenhouse gas emissions, a combination thereof, and on other factors.

Abstract: A method is provided in which a pair of transmitters having omnidirectional and directional transmission characteristics is provided when an associative connection is established between an electric vehicle and a charging station. Once the associative connection has been established in such a way that a directional radio link is formed, the associative connection is tested using an omnidirectional transmitter. The results of the testing may be used to prevent an unwanted associative connection to a compromising transmitter.

Abstract: A vehicle charge station includes at least a first interface and second interface coupled with a power converter and a controller. The controller is configured to, in response to detecting a battery electric vehicle (BEV) classified vehicle coupled with the power converter via the first interface while flowing a charge current to a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) classified vehicle via the second interface, redirect the charge current from the second interface to the first interface. Also, a method of controlling a charge station includes receiving first vehicle data from a first vehicle connected to a first interface and transferring power to the first interface. The method then receives second vehicle data from a second vehicle connected to a second interface and, in response to a comparison of the first vehicle data and the second vehicle data indicating a higher priority for the second vehicle, redirects power from the first interface to the second interface.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems are provided that track details of power transfers made between power sources and electric vehicles. The power tracking system monitors the source of charges received, how much charge was provided, rates billed for the charging service and other information related to a charging transaction. The tracked power consumption may be used by the power tracking system server to anticipate future charging times, preferences, or locations, and even determine driving habits, and demand for charging in a region or area.

Abstract: It is intended to provide a safe non-contact charging environment that enables finding an electronic appliance that remains left in a vehicle before start of charging and preventing trouble that an electronic appliance breaks down by electromagnetic waves generated during charging by means of electromagnetic coupling. A process of checking to see that an electronic appliance remains left inside a vehicle, based on wireless communication information emitted by the electronic appliance left inside the vehicle is performed in advance. When it has been detected that an electronic appliance remains left, a charging current value is controlled according to an allowable current of the detected electronic appliance or an alert is generated to notify that the electronic appliance remains left.
