Abstract:
A method and control apparatus is disclosed for operating an internal combustion engine equipped with an after-treatment system including a catalyst. The control is configured to: perform a DeNOx regeneration event; monitor a parameter (1up) representative of an air-to-fuel ratio upstream of the catalyst and a parameter (1down) representative of an air-to-fuel ratio downstream of the catalyst; and perform a dedicated operating phase of the internal combustion engine to achieve an increase of the NOx emissions, if the value of the parameter (1down) representative of an air-to-fuel ratio downstream of the catalyst is lower than the value of the parameter (1up) representative of an air-to-fuel ratio upstream of the catalyst.
Abstract:
A method of operating a Selective Catalytic Reduction on Diesel Particulate Filter or SDPF is disclosed. During a SDPF regeneration; temperature values are obtained for the SDPF inlet and SDPF outlet. The temperature values are used to calculate a rate of increase of SDPF outlet temperature and a rate of increase of SDPF inlet temperature. A ratio between the rate of increase of SDPF outlet temperature values and the rate of increase of SDPF inlet temperature values is calculated, and if the ratio is greater than a threshold thereof, the exhaust gas composition is modified in some manner.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for operating a low pressure EGR valve in a low pressure EGR route of an internal combustion engine equipped with an aftertreatment system having a urea injector upstream of a Selective Catalytic Reduction on Filter (SCRF). During a regeneration procedure of the SCRF, an enabling condition is monitored for opening the low pressure EGR valve of the low pressure EGR route when enabling condition is satisfied. The enabling condition may be satisfied if a urea injection is not performed.
Abstract:
An internal combustion engine includes an aftertreatment device, an injector for injecting fuel into a cylinder and an Electronic Control Unit configured to perform a regeneration process of the aftertreatment device. The regeneration process includes determining a nominal fuel quantity to be injected by an after-injection; monitoring a temperature value of the aftertreatment device; determining a fuel quantity correction value, as a function of a difference between the monitored temperature value and a target temperature value of the aftertreatment device; correcting the nominal fuel quantity value, using the fuel quantity correction value, in order to determine a corrected fuel quantity value; performing a fuel injection cycle including a plurality of after-injections; and injecting the corrected fuel quantity value into the cylinder during one of the after-injections of the cycle.
