Abstract:
The beads of a pneumatic tire having sidewalls of a cross-sectional shape, wherein upon inflation the midline thereof between the tread reinforcement and bead is convex with respect to the interior of the tire, are gripped by a rim having an annular channel generally elliptically shaped in cross-section and having its open side directed radially outwardly with respect to the axis of the wheel and inwardly directed annular flanges only partially closing the open side of the channel.
Abstract:
A toothed-belt and toothed-pulleys transmission including means for widening the teeth of the toothed-belt, said means corresponding to the top of each belt tooth and the base of each toothed-pulley groove.
Abstract:
An oscillation damping device having a differentiated action in the two directions of sliding of a rigid stem with respect to a rigid case, comprising a plurality of rigid rolling elements, interposed between a rolling race of viscoelastic material and one or more skidding metallic races, shaped in such a way that upon moving the stem in one direction, the rolling elements are encased within said metallic races, spaced out from the viscoelastic race and exert a limited braking effect, while upon moving the stem in the opposite direction, the rolling elements are advanced into interference with the viscoelastic race and thereby exert a strong braking effect.
Abstract:
A driving belt pulley provided with dowels protruding in the radial direction with respect to its axis, and adapted for insertion into corresponding holes in the belt itself. The belt pulley comprises a supporting surface for the belt, the width of which--measured in the direction of said axis--is between two and four times the dimension of the root-section of one of said dowels measured in the direction of said axis, while the dimension of the root-section of each one of said dowels measured in the direction orthogonal to the previous one is between 3/10 and 8/10 of the distance between the axes of two of said contiguous dowels measured in respect of their root-section.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an antivibration device particularly adapted for mounting motorcar engines, comprising a shaft (2) fixed to a base and supporting above it a metallic plate (3), fixing one extremity of a metallic container cylinder (4) inside which there is axially positioned a shaft (5) bearing the static work preload by means of a spacer spring (7) interposed between the plate (3) and a plate (6) held at one extremity of the same shaft (5), rigid revolving elements (9) being disposed between a viscoelastic material rolling race (10), preferably sheathing the shaft (5), and a metallic sliding race (8) consisting of a groove made in the inner wall of the container cylinder (4) in which the said rigid revolving elements are housed.
Abstract:
A continuous driving belt, adapted for transmitting movement between two elements, each one of which is rotatable around an axis and which is provided with pins projecting in the radial direction with respect to said axis, which are adapted for insertion into corresponding holes made in the belt itself. Said belt is constructed with a primary, deformable polymeric material having a Shore-A hardness greater than 75 degrees, and is provided with a reinforcing structure that comprises a plurality of annular elements which are embedded in said primary material and which are constructed out of a secondary material that presents an elongation substantially less than that of said primary material. The annular elements lie on planes that are substantially parallel to the longitudinal plane of the mid-plane of the belt itself.
Abstract:
A device for storing and later releasing mechanical energy has an elongate body, preferably cylindrical, at least one elastic strip or band wound helicoidally about the body and fastened thereto at each end thereof. A rigid rod extends longitudinally through and supports the body. The strips are wound about the body by rotating one end of the body on the rod. The strips of elastic material are subjected only to tensile stress and can be greatly deformed to accumulate a large amount of energy. The dimensions of the device are relatively small and need not be varied to accumulate a large amount of energy. The device is useful for starting an internal combustion engine, a rechargeable element as a substitute for a motor or as an accumulator of braking energy of a motor vehicle.
Abstract:
Elastic joint for the transmission of motion between two shafts, comprising two supports, a driving support and a driven support, associated with the shafts and at least two arms for each support. The joint comprises at least one single element for connecting the two arms, this element being in the form of a closed annular strap of inextensible and flexible material. The strap can be disposed on a plane separating the two supports at a position substantially central to the joint so as to form a polygon whose vertices are the ends of the arms belonging alternatively to the driving support and driven support.
Abstract:
A toothed-belt and toothed-pulleys transmission including means for widening the teeth of the toothed-belt, said means corresponding to the top of each belt tooth and the base of each toothed-pulley groove.
Abstract:
An elastic joint for the transmission of motion between a driving shaft and a driven shaft, comprising in effect two tetrahedrons joined together along one edge. The two tetrahedrons are constituted by eight edges formed by flexible elements resistant to tensile stresses; the furthermost edges and the joining edge are formed of material resistant to compression stresses.
